Excellent cottage for a couple, good meals in adjoining inn & just a short walk into Appleby which has plenty of dog friendly eating places.

We knew as soon as we entered this delightful cottage that we had made a good choice. It was immaculately clean, there was a welcome pack of milk, jam, marmalade, tea, coffee and chocolates. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The bathroom is large with a lovely shower. We made use of the lovely garden with swing and picnic table. The pub next door has very welcoming staff and super food. An excellent 4 night stay for us. Would highly recommend.

Great value in a lovely small market town well placed for the Lakes and the North Pennines and with easy access from the A66. The Cottage is compact but ideal for one or two people and very dog friendly. Equipment in the cottage is excellent as was the cleanliness. The location right next door to the Royal Oak pub is very useful for meals if you don't want to cook, or drive so being able to have a drink. The only slight negatives are not having a reserved parking space and fairly steep steps to access the garden. However given the price of accommodation Clarence Cottage is very recommendable!

This cottage is lovely. Everything you need it’s a home from home. Great walks and lovely place. We had a superb week. Would definitely love to go back in the summer as the garden was lovely but we didn’t get enough sunny weather to really use it. Very dog friendly place.

We had a good time at Clarence Cottage. It is just right for 2. Strangely we hadn't realised the cottage is right next to the Royal Oak until we arrived. It was an asset and didn't cause any problems. Cottage had everything we needed. If the weather had been wet we would have felt the need for more coat hooks perhaps in the kitchen.

A charming cottage 10 minutes walk from the town centre. Very clean and inviting, perfect for a couple. Though being next door to a pub it wasn't a problem - we got a very good steak meal at the Royal Oak on Wednesday evening! We ate out most evenings but on the last night we attempted to use the hob but it didn't work. Also, the shower extractor fan didn't work either. However, they didn't detract from our stay.
