Cleveland Way Cottage is set in the small coastal village community of Skinningrove located on the Cleveland Way in between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Staithes, where the Yorkshire Moors meet the North Sea. Step outside the front door and you’re literally on the Cleveland Way which offers some amazing coastal walks all along the stunning Yorkshire Heritage Coastline. This former fisherman’s cottage has been renovated to a very good standard with tasteful decor and furnishings throughout, providing an excellent base for couples and families looking for a seaside/countryside holiday. All the windows to the front of the property have uninterrupted views of the sea. There’s even a wood burner in the living room to warm you up after a winters’ walk or, in summer, the lovely little sitting-out area is perfect for catching a bit of sunshine.
Skinningrove is an ideal base for exploring the area. The main attraction has to be the two fantastic bays right on the doorstep, one of which featured in the ’top 20 hidden beaches in the UK’. They form part of the stunning Yorkshire Heritage Coast with its towering cliffs, sandy beaches and traditional seaside resorts. The wonderful fishing town of Whitby is just 12 miles away so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of cobbled back streets, events and festivals such as the Goth Weekender and the Whitby Regatta, and then return to the sound of the waves and beautiful quiet beaches. Head inland and explore more of the North York Moors National Park. Quaint, pretty villages such as Grosmont and Goathland are a short drive away. For a different experience why not catch the steam train to ’Heartbeat Country’ or take a boat trip out to sea for a wonderful view of the Yorkshire coast. For the active there is everything from surfing and swimming to fishing and golf and for keen bird watchers the RSPB visitor centre at Saltholme attracts rare species throughout the year thanks to it unique landscape. Beach 10 yards. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

Lovely cottage with a really nice dog friendly beach on the doorstep. Very comfortable, clean and generously supplied with all essentials. Dog friendly restaurant with delicious food on the doorstep. Only criticism is that it would be on the small side for 6 people.

We stayed in this delightful cottage for two weeks and it was the perfect base. Having such a wonderful beach on the doorstep was out of this world, and we didn't want to go home! The local villagers were friendly when we were out on our walks. The cottage itself was well equipped and comfortable, and the owners were so helpful. We already knew the area quite well, with Saltburn, Staithes, Whitby and Helmsley being favourite places. We have been holidaying in North Yorkshire for 29 years (up to four times per year) and have stayed in so many wonderful places, and this cottage was most certainly one we will remember so fondly. Our dog certainly enjoyed his holiday too... he is never happier than when on a beach :)

The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable. It had fabulous views from the front and side windows. Perfect for walkers as its on the Cleveland way. Saltburn and Staithes is well worth the walk from the cottage with a regular bus service along the coast from the top of the village should you wish to bus back. Nearby beaches all lovely from gorgeous sand to rock pools. Great for dogs.

Lovely stay in this cosy cottage with my husband and 3 children. It was clean with lovely bedding and had everything we needed. The views and walks are fabulous, and there is a large clean sandy beach less than a 5 minute walk away. We loved visiting Whitby and Scarborough, our children also loved Redcar which is a 10 minute drive away. Great intruduction to Yorkshire. We highly recommend and will visit again.

Great Little Cottage 3 adults and 2 little dogs stayed here in March we had a great week the weather was good and the Cottage was great ,very clean and tidy ,the beds are very comfy and you have everything you need would highly recommend to anyone. The location is great especially for the dogs they loved it running along the beach ,there's an Asda just 10 mins away and the Kaskane Pub is just 5mins walk up the road which serves good food and is well priced. There's a fish&chip shop behind the cottage ,but wasn't open when we was there and there's a little shop just around the corner ,the locals are also very friendly.

We had a lovely weekend, the beach nearby is beautifully unspoilt, the walks are lovely. The cottage was cosy, warm, home from home. Lack of a pub marks it down, but otherwise a tranquil unspoilt location which we enjoyed.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location. You step out of the door and are practically on the beach. There is a beautiful big beach that had very few tourists. Lots of friendly locals walking their dogs. Perfectly situated for visits to Whitby and walks along the coast and in the North Yorkshire countryside. Lovely warm cottage with log burner and fabulous hot shower. We would definitely go back again .
