This is a great cottage with views of the sea. The rooms have high ceilings which make the property feel airy and bright (which is also helped by the contemporary colour scheme). The kitchen was well-equipped with a variety of the little things that make the difference, e.g. dishwasher tablets, hand wash, tin foil. The combination oven/microwave is a little bit more complicated to operate, so it is worth taking 2 minutes to read the instruction manual to make sure you are heating your food in the right way. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. We stayed at the property in cold February and we found that it was not the warmest bathroom even with the heating on. However, this was a relatively minor issue - you must just towel off quickly. The lounge was tastefully decorated and had a comfortable sofa and armchair. The TV is smaller than most cottages we stayed at through this website - you probably would not be able to watch any film or TV show that is subtitled. However, if you stand at the window, you get a glorious view across the front lawn of the sea and sky. In the main bedroom, the mattress was perhaps a little tired and creaky - we could literally feel and hear the springs. Also, the blinds did let in a fair amount of light - if you are a light sleeper, you may find that the light coming in during the mornings may disturb your sleep. An extra pair of curtains would have made this room not only darker but warmer. In the second bedroom (with the 3/4 double bed), the mattress was much more comfortable. Also, there was far less light coming into the room. Overall, we really enjoyed and appreciated the property. The owners were helpful when we had to deal with them. All of the equipment worked well. The property was clean and tidy. We would happily return to the property.

This was our 3rd visit to Coastguard Cottages and yet again it didn’t disappoint. The welcome pack is a lovely touch. Will definitely be looking to make a 4th visit.

Great well equipped rustic little cottage with sea views, easy on road parking. Better than average welcome pack. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay here. Lots of places in town to eat that are dog friendly. Recommend The Old Oak, and the Royal Harbor Brasserie.

We had an absolutely lovely Christmas break here, a beautiful coastal home decorated beautifully, spotlessly clean, dog friendly and generous welcome pack, it is easy to access a lovely beach and just a short walk to pubs, restaurants and a lovely harbour we would totally recommend a stay here

This was a delightful cottage, tastefully decorated and in a very good location with easy access to the town centre, harbour, beach and park. The property was well equipped and the welcome pack of goodies was very thoughtful and much appreciated. This was an ideal base to visit other attractions in nearby towns such as Broadstairs, Herne Bay, Margate & Whitstable. All in all exactly what we were looking for in a mini break with our West Highland Terrier.

Stayed september 2019 when we arrived early evening the welcome pack was more than we expected and really appreciated and the facilities in the property were perfect. The only down side and not a issue to most people was the stairs to the first floor, as we are senior in years it could be a problem if your not careful and possibly with young children but overall we really enjoyed the coastguard retreat.

A very smartly decorated cottage overlooking the seafront. Great location but yet easy to park on the street nearby. Lots of lovely treats left for us on arrival. The cottage is more spacious than appears in the pictures.

Stayed here for a four night break, the house is in a great location a short walk to the marina and down quite a few steps to get onto the dog friendly beach, opposite the house. We parked the car outside the front of the house, which is free, and did not really need to use it as lovely walks directly from the house. The house was lovely and clean and had everything we needed, though we did struggle a bit to work out how to use the microwave/oven combination. The stairs to the bedroom are steep and windy, we managed them ok but may have been a problem had we bought our elderly parents. We found the double bed very soft and the frame was creaky which was a shame because the room itself was lovely with excellent views. The lounge had great views, we did move the table to Infront of the window so we could sit and look out, as the windows are high so there are no views if you are sitting on the sofa. The outside space was great for our dog, it is communal but fully enclosed so I was able to let our dog have a wander around, no-one else was using the area accept for another family of holiday makers with a dog. The area just outside the door was overgrown so unable to place our chairs there, it would have been nice if there had been a bench or table and chairs in that area like some of the other cottages. We had a nice relaxing break and would stay in the house again if ever we are in the area.
