With a selection of excellent restaurants, pubs and a delicatessen, the waterside village of instow has plenty to do and see. Located just yards from Instow Beach with its lovely dunes and amazing sunsets, this Grade II listed 300-year-old cottage offers the perfect holiday accommodation for couples who want to experience a unique and quirky cottage stay. Adjacent to the owner’s property, the accommodation comprises an entrance through a bright cobbled courtyard. Into the cottage there is a galley kitchen looking out to the sunny courtyard, which has table and chairs for alfresco dining.
The living room has an original cobble stone floor, wood burning stove, a two-seater leather sofa and Smart TV. Leading from the living area is a wet room style shower room with hand basin and toilet. There are steep and uneven original wooden stairs to the bedroom above with a kingsize bed and a sea glimpse to remind you every morning the beach is just yards away!
There are four excellent pubs in the village, three of which are just around the corner, with some of the best outdoor dining in North Devon. They also serve breakfasts as does the award-winning delicatessen/cafe, from where you can purchase all you need for home dining. With plenty of outdoor tables at the pubs and restaurants you can have a meal or drink while taking in the beautiful river and sea views and watching the boating activities. The view across the estuary is to the historic, pretty fishing village of Appledore, which can be easily reached by car or simply by taking the ferry across from Instow Quay.
Head back to Instow at the end of a day spent exploring and enjoy a local ice cream while sitting on the beach wall admiring the dunes and sandy beach and taking in one of the best sunsets, you’re likely to see as the sun drops into the Atlantic.
Access to Cobble Cottage is by foot, but it’s just a stone’s throw from the waterfront street, Marine Parade, where evening parking is free and unrestricted. On street parking is free and completely unrestricted from the end of September to the beginning of May. There are also two pay and display car parks very nearby.
