Culrain Cottage offers a warm and welcoming environment for those looking for a place to get away from it all, in one of Scotland’s most desirable areas. With many of its original features retained, Culrain epitomises the ’traditional Scottish home’’ with the open stone wall surrounding the fireplace, exposed beams, solid wooden flooring and deep windowsills whilst the fixtures and furnishings are all modern. Set over two floors, this property is well equipped and benefits from oil central heating and double glazing throughout. To the front of the property there is private off-street parking large enough for several vehicles and a decked seating area with a barbecue that gets both the morning and evening sun. The living room is spacious and benefits from having a wood burner and a smart TV. The kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob built into the island and plenty of storage cupboards. The dining table and chairs are of traditional pine and compliment the rest of the kitchen very well. The cupboard opposite the front door is perfect for hanging coats and putting shoes after a day out. Finally, on the ground floor, the family bathroom has a newly fitted shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. The new staircase leads from the kitchen to a good-sized landing area and two large double bedrooms, both with windows to the front overlooking the parking and decking area.
A short walk from the cottage is the pretty village of Fort Augustus which lies on the banks of Loch Ness where it meets the Caledonian Canal. This bustling Highland village has shops, restaurants, bars, and boat trips. Inverness and Fort William are both just a 45-minute drive away. The Isle of Skye is just over an hour’s drive, and one of the most beautiful roads in Scotland taking you through the Kintail mountain range. On route, Eileen Donan Castle, which is worth a visit, as is the beautiful coastal village Plockton. You’ll be spoilt for choice for activities on your doorstep including fishing, walking, climbing, pony trekking, golf and so much more!
