The cottage was snug; the bedrooms are on the small side for two adults to share but the beds were clean and very comfortable. The kitchen had basic equipment - disappointing that the microwave didn't work. The lounge was spacious with a TV and freeview TV. There were a few cobwebs and generally the cottage is due some TLC.

Lovely property, well equipped. Logs provided for log burner but no matches. Could have done with instructions for the washing machine as we had to wash some wet clothes. Overall, great place for a few days.

Great location to explore the peak district. Dog friendly acomodation, plenty of room for 4 adults. Good local shops and pub in village. Only points for improvement...no welcome pack, not essential but common place for this type of acomodation, ensuite shower needs updating. Small details, over all loved our stay over a long weekend, relaxing and peaceful.....Great walks on the doorstep.

Great location. Disappointed by plumbing which needs updating, along with appliances in the kitchen. TV electrical sockets overloaded with too many plugs.

We had a great time. The cottage was lovely, but really quite cramped upstairs. Suitable for 2 couples but cramming 2 parents and a cot into the smallest room was not satisfactory. If I were yourselves, I would have to say that the property really isn't suitable to have a cot in any of the rooms upstairs and not accept family bookings with babies.

house was dirty and generally a bit run down with electrical tape over switches in the kitchen for example, or freezer boxes in the fridge that don't function/open or knives so blunt they cannot cut anything at all: More distressing, we found something that looked suspicious smeared on a wooden surface in the bedroom with ensuite - could have been chocolate, could have been something worse, we didn't want to know which. A cleaner could not have missed it, leading us to think the room was not cleaned. Too many flies to sleep in the same bedroom - possibly related to suspicious filth...we had to clean it, open windows and air the room out. Other issues: Pans in kitchen were dirty. Bath didn't appear to have a plug, so couldn't use it. Flush in ensuite bedroom toilet did not work. Positives....lovely village and surrounding scenery.

The cottage has much to recommend it: it's a beautifully completed barn conversion with many lovely details, and although less than 2 miles out of Hartington, it gives the impression of being the middle of nowhere. It was much bigger than I needed -- but I booked at the last minute, and I was glad it was available. The furniture is all comfortable, and I especially enjoyed sitting outside at the back of the cottage in the sun. There is though a problem with the drain from the hot-tub -- I opened the door to the room it was in, smelled the drains, and kept the door shut throughout my stay. I should add that all the other drains were fine, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay there with anyone whose health could have been theatened. It is almost perfect -- but the drain problem is really a problem that should be fixed.
