    This delightful, centrally situated holiday cottage is perfect for easy access into Edinburgh by train from Kirknewton station, which is a five minute drive, and to explore the surrounding areas. It is set in the grounds of the owner’s home just off the A71, on the edge of a small collection of houses with an open outlook over farmland. It is very light and comfortable with a summerhouse and patio being ideal for relaxing after a day away. Nearby, visit Jupiter Artland, a contemporary art park and gallery, enjoy hill walks in Pentland Regional Park, retail therapy at the designer outlets in Livingston (five miles), or head off to the New Lanark World Heritage Site on the Clyde, which is a 40-minute drive. There is golf at Dalmahoy and Pumpherston. Edinburgh offers activity and entertainment for all ages and interests, and this cottage offers a lovely peaceful retreat to come back to.

    Third time at Eilean Donan cottage & will be back! Spotless, warm & so well equipped. Best holiday cottage we’ve had, can’t recommend it enough. Denise & Mike are wonderful hosts, welcoming & always at hand if needed 😄😄😄

    We had an excellent weeks holiday at this very spacious bungalow. We were met by the owners on arrival, who were very welcoming and informative. The bungalow is perfectly positioned for getting into Edinburgh, with a very good Park and Ride just a few miles away and also for visiting the local areas. We have stayed in several very nice self-catering holiday homes in recent years but this property was the most well equipped and cleanest by far. All that you could wish for and more. We will definitely recommend to friends and hope to return ourselves in the future.

    Spacious, clean and well equipped in a good quiet location for us. Sadly there was a deep seated stale cigarette smell throughout the house, especially in one of the bedrooms and as non-smokers travelling with a baby we found it so unpleasant we went home before the end of our holiday.

    Very comfortable stay, spotlessly clean family friendly and very quiet despite proximity to a71 and handy for links to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Owner was friendly and the bungalow was well equipped. Welcome hamper of snacks was a nice touch

    A delightful property, very well equipped and well cared for by the owners. We had everything we needed. Within reach of Edinburgh as park and ride is close by, but there are also other attractions within 30 minutes drive. We would definitely recommend this property.

    We had a really comfortable stay at the cottage. The beds were excellent and the kitchen was well equipped. It's brilliant to have a walk in shower, too. There was a small Tesco Express close by in the centre of East Calder and a huge shopping centre at Livingston with a massive Asda and big Morrisons. It was easy to find the Park and Ride at Hermiston a 15 minute drive away from the cottage and it only took half an hour to get to the centre of Edinburgh. The bus service there was brilliant and we used an all day travel ticket to take us across town visiting the mumerous attractions. We also enjoyed exploring the castles at Linlithgow, Blackness and Stirling. There is plehty to eee and do. You won't be bored.

    This is the second year we have stayed at the cottage and once again we have thoroughly enjoyed the cottage, we enjoy the amenities around the area and chilling at night in the cottage which is lovely and quiet. The owners are amazing and very accommodating and go out of their way to ensure our stay is always very enjoyable. The cottage is a bungalow and is adapted in the bathroom to accommodate persons who have mobility issues, this is such a bonus for us as we have persons in our group who do benefit greatly from this and I would definitely recommended the cottage should anyone require this for themselves. Overall the cottage for us is a great find and we are already planning our third visit as it really does have a home from home feeling whereby; all of us instantly feel at ease, chilled and able to relax and we are all looking forward very much to our next visit, we would like to thank the owners for their very welcoming hospitality.

    This is a beautiful cottage. Spotlessly clean, very peaceful and homely. The cottage is so near Edinburgh, however you feel as if you are in the middle of the country and miles away from any large city. Therefore you have the best of both worlds as you can visit wonderful Edinburgh very quickly, but enjoy the peacefulness of the cottage, which has the convenience of many supermarkets nearby. We have never been to such a well equipped cottage, home from home. Mike met us on arrival and kindly had the heating on. We were left a lovely welcome hamper which we greatly enjoyed. It was such a very thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated.
