Lovely stay with fantastic host. Not given 10 out of 10 simply due to it not having the Wow factor. Would definitely recommend this accommodation for those interested in this property

It is in the middle of nowhere you had to travel at least 20 - 30 mins to get to any shops. It is supposed to be a self catering cottage but there were no tins or proper saucepans that you could easily cook with so you had no choice but to eat out all the time, it is a pet friendly cottage great but there was no mop and bucket available, so if you had a accident with your pet because of the wooden flooring it would be easier to clear up with a mop and bucket, we did ask the lady the question as to if there was a mop and bucket etc., and her reply was that she used to provide it all but it was costing her too much money as they always used to get pinched by the people staying there so if you want that sort of equipment you either have to bring it with you or go out and buy it and take it home with you. So for a self catering cottage we did not think that was correct as you could not really self cater. They seem to be more interested in people using the hot tub and that is not the reason we booked the holiday.

Very nice cottage in a very pleasant location. Owner very friendly. A good place if you want to take pets.

This was a fantastic base to explore this part of Wales. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Our children loved playing tennis every night while I made the dinner. We loved to unwind in the hot tub after long walks and hot days.

We had a really lovely stay in Wales as a small group of four. The cottage we stayed in, Tan Y Dderwen was easy to find and a good base from our holiday - just a short drive from New Quay and Aberaeron, and less than an hour to Aberystwyth, which we also visited. The cottage was cozy and very clean, and the owners had kindly left us a fresh loaf of bread, butter and a jar of jam. There is space for improvement with the accommodation, however. The fridge does not close easily, the dishwasher does not close at all rendering it useless, though there was washing up equipment provided. The beds are very comfortable but the curtains are very thin, and with two lights on all night directly outside the window it was a little difficult to sleep. Towels were provided but there was only one toilet roll, so we had to drive to a nearby petrol station on the first day to buy some. Before using the hot tub, we were supposed to sign a form and hand it to the lady's niece who was calling in on us to check everything was okay and show us the hot tub. However the niece never appeared on the day we arrived. I called the owner who said her niece would come between 9.30 and 10am the next day (and kindly allowed us to use the hot tub that day anyway). We hung around until 10.30 before we went out for the day without seeing her - we were in the cottage for 5 days without seeing anybody! The hot tub was certainly a high point, with coloured lights and jets, and there was a gas barbecue that we enjoyed on the first night. We were also looking forward to playing tennis, but there were no balls or racquets available. Overall, the stay was good, but with a few small improvements it could be brilliant.

The cottages have been tastefully renovated to a very high standard. They sit on their own piece of land in a very peaceful location about 3 miles from the main coastal road. Tan y Derwen is very well equipped including dishwasher and washing machine. The hot tub was very welcome after long walks on the welsh coastal path. The location is perfect to explore the surrounding area although there is only a pub in the village so you need to venture further into Aberaeron for supplies etc. The welcome pack of local bread, butter & jam was a nice touch. I was very impressed overall and will certainly be returning and would recommend.
