Despite a couple of harsh scores above, we absolutely loved this place and the owners are super. It's exceptional value for money, as long as you don't expect the Ritz! If you like peace and tranquility, we've yet to find anywhere better in the UK (though we were lucky in that the other lodge on the site was unoccupied for most of our stay). Could just do with a bit of TLC in places, i.e. the veranda, which looks beautiful in the pictures but in reality is in desperate need of a rub down and coat of varnish. It was lethal in the wet.... The main oven didn't work either, so lucky we weren't a big family - the grill/oven sufficed fine, for us! Overall, a cracking, good value place which - if they only allowed dogs - we'd happily revisit. Definitely a good find.

Had a lovely week break in the English countryside. Good location near to local attraction and historical sites for an ages to enjoy. Lovely lodge in a quiet location, so good for if you want a quiet break or to venture out.

Excellently presented cottage, everything one could need was there. Well situated for our visit to friends in Derby. Weather not good but always a pleasure to retreat to the cottage. Very quiet! Good local pubs for eating out.

We really enjoyed our stay at field lodge, we didnt even miss the wi-fi. There were just a few little things that could have been improved. The first the temperature of the shower was not high enough even on the highest setting. The second is the driveway leading to the cottage has a big hump in it and on our way out fully laden our exhaust caught on it and we had to have the middle of it replaced after getting home. Besides this it was a great stay and we would go again and recommend it to others.
