Just outside the pretty little village of Strathyre in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, this comfortable lodge is on a small private park bounded on one side by the River Balvaig which flows from Loch Voil into Loch Lubnaig, and by Strathyre Forest on the other. There is an open plan living area with a cosy wood burner, a modern German central heating system and comfy Hypnos beds to come home to after a day of adventure, and lots of outdoor space surrounding the cabin. Fishing for two rods on the river is free of charge and this stunning natural woodland is heaven for walkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts. Red squirrels, otters and even the elusive pine marten have been spotted locally. There are water sports on Loch Lubnaig and as Strathyre is on the Rob Roy Way and a National Cycle Route, there are many waymarked routes for either a quiet ramble or a full-on hike. This is ideal as a base for hill walkers and climbers to tackle the munros Ben Vorlich, St?c a’ Chroin, Ben Ledi and Ben Lawers. For a more relaxed approach, Callander, 9 miles, has a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants and there are wonderful scenic drives through the Trossachs with boat trips on Loch Katrine, and a visit to historic Stirling Castle, 24 miles away, is a day of intrigue in itself. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

A wonderfully equipped lodge for a perfect early autumn holiday. Accessible also, as all on the ground floor also which was a great benefit to one of the guests who had a disability. Located in a great location for exploring the local area.

The cabin was exactly as it appeared on the website. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The bathroom was bright and modern and the water nice and hot.

Lovely cabin with beautiful well kept grounds. Really comfortable beds. Could have done with slightly bigger towels but fine. Really friendly locals and walking straight from the door into woodland.Would definitely come back. Dogs going free a real bonus.

Fantastic quiet location surrounded by wildlife. Scenic cycle/walking tracks off road (tarmac and dirt track) from the door to nearby lochs and villages. The lodge is private and not overlooked, as well as being comfortable and very practical for self catering. Heating in the lounge was great, we didn’t use the wood burner at all, plus there is a small heater in the bedroom to top up if needed, but we didn’t.

Excellent value for money in a good location. The owner had put extra heaters after the last review which helped but lodge could do with better heating fitted. Log burner kept everyone warm but logs are £5.50 for a bag so if you wanted to have the fire on all day then you might use 2 bags! Everything was provided that you could want and beds and duvets were excellent. Added bonus were the 3 red squirrels that we fed peanuts to outside the front window - fabulous!!! Also dogs go free which I’ve never found before. To summarise I would recommend this lodge as it is a lovely peaceful place to stay - thank you.

Log burner only fuel for 1st fire included. What was actually there was a box with 6 damp, unlightable matches, 2 bits of fire lighter, small amount of sticks & about 6 logs, which lasted for less than an hour. 2 ceramic heaters- 2 of the smallest heaters I have ever seen only 1 worked! A wall heater that you had 2 switch back on every hour. None of the working heaters threw out any significant heat.We took a large bag of logs & used 4-5 bags off logs daily & was still freezing because of small log burner & draughts! Door to cabin was warped didnt sit in frame properly cold coming throu it was unbelievable. Front window had what looked like toilet roll stuffed in frame assuming to mimimise draughts. Washing machine & dishwasher but no heating! No welcome pack & £40 for dog number 2. At the very least logs should be included for such a cold cabin. No stranger to log cabins in Strathyre in winter but this is the coldest, draughtiest cabin we’ve ever payed to stay in. Had to leave 2 days early as could not bear cold in cabin any longer. This cabin may be fine in summer but untill heating & log burner is reveiwed should not be rented out in winter.
