Had a great weekend hosts were lovely and house was just what we needed with kids plenty to explore!

A lovely rental in a beautiful part of the country. Plenty to see and do within a short drive. It is a converted barn on a working farm. Yes it’s a bit creaky but so what? We had 4 children aged 9 and under so the fact it was a bit rustic was perfect. They loved playing hide and seek in and out of the house, playing in the enclosed garden (ideal for toddling guests) and in the front yard. Owners are lovely and very helpful. The basket of freshly laid eggs was most welcome on arrival. Some of the previous reviews are a tad harsh in my opinion. If you are looking for 5* luxury then maybe look elsewhere. But if you want a genuine large farm rental in the beautiful English/Welsh countryside then definitely consider New Court Farm.

Exec Summary?.....Big tired welcoming neglected priced to highly for whats there. Kids loved it. Positives first. It's a large barn (literally) remodelled into accommodation about 40 years ago by the look of the fenestration. And its about right if want is wanted is a place to not too careful or concerned with young kids about. The owners are friendly and busy farmers, so lambs and a couple of horses provided light relief to the grand children . Plenty of space for them to make dens and run about when it was raining. Nice views from the east side but why the large bushes and trees left to grow rampant on the nearby fence line, obstructing the best views? Pity, as it would make the experience of being there so much more attractive. The view over the valley is to a stunning listed building, 3 stories and set out like a Mercedes emblem, 3 wings at 120 deg to eat other. Just beyond that is the (noisy) A40, but has a ½ mile away. Clean enough though we were surprised that the vacuum cleaner was so full it wouldn't work. Once we'd emptied the hopper it worked fine (cleaning broken glass from the floor). Heating was effective but again, a recurrent theme, it lacked any routine maintenance and TLC: the rads were not all controllable, some valves leaked, and the boiler ripped once. That was soon restarted by calling up, but that could have been covered in the 'help page' of their club. Beds and linen were fine, in fact comfortable. Showers were electric (2 N0.) and off the mains, (bathroom). Bath was commodious. TV and video player worked. Good IT/WIFI. Covered the whole house. Now the negatives.... We disconnected (unplugged) a table lamp in the lounge as it gave one of our number, thankfully NOT a child, a 'belt'. I then checked and NONE of the appliances I saw had been recently PAT tested. Extinguishers were up to date but the electrical stuff should be brought up to speed. The furniture is also 1980s, a job lot of leather(ette?) recliners and sofas. Comfy and again not worth any worry with kids. Just be away this isn't a luxury rental. Floor coverings were 'robust'. A wonderful assortment of crockery and cutlery, pops and pans! Boot sales and auctions. And the noisiest staircase and floors of any house I've been into.

Property is a little bit tired, but that’s reflected in the price. Narrow lane for access, but that means it’s very quiet. Beautiful view to rear, would be good if there were outside seating area to enjoy it. All in all an excellent property, and very spacious.

Great for a big group get together

Lovely place which was perfect for our family of 10 (5 couples). The converted barn is very spacious with a large main sitting room with armchairs for 11 but it also has a couple of smaller seating areas for smaller groups to sit and chat or for someone to go off and quietly read a book. We didn't have small children with us but there is plenty of room for youngsters to play inside. Most of the bedrooms are also large and roomy and all the beds that we slept on were extremely comfortable. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite. There is a family bathroom on the first floor and a shower room on the ground floor. The kitchen/dining room is really well-equipped with loads of crockery, cutlery, saucepans, etc and there is plenty of fridge/freezer space and a very useful dishwasher. The dining table can easily seat 12. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and although there is a little road noise from the A40 which is about a mile away, it isn't that noticeable (or very busy). The owners (Jill and Michael) live in the neighbouring farmhouse and were very friendly and helpful.

11 of us enjoyed a great weekend together at Foxcote barn, there was so much room in the kitchen/dining and lounge areas for everyone not to feel squashed; there are lovely views across the countryside. There is plenty of kitchenware and a double oven plus 2 fridges - all essential for a big group. The bedrooms too were spacious and beds comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The farm is quite remote, although this didn't matter for a weekend. We would happily come again as it is good value for money.

Very Enjoyable holiday and very friendly owners.

Excellent place, perfect for what we needed it for. The flooring upstairs was exceptionally noisy - lots of loose floorboards creaking and banging. That said, the whole place was generally fantastic - recommended!

Stayed at this cottage for 3 days with friends and their children. The owners were lovely and having cake on arrival was a super lovely touch. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Cottage was huge which made it fantastic for our party of 11 plus the children. It was very well equipped and bedding and towels were nice and clean/ fresh. In total we loved it and would stay there again hopefully in future. There is one observation I would like to make (I think previous guests commented on as well) and I hope it is taken into consideration. The place is in need of a little more tlc and a good clean. The main living space is clean but bed side tables for example and corners around the place were incredibly dusty. There was visible dust on the ceiling even and it just made us feel a little uncomfortable in honesty. I genuinely hope the state of the cleanliness is improved because as I said before we would definitely be staying there again. I hope this negative comment does not cause upset as at the end of the day that is what feedback is all about.

Owners very friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable and lovely laundered linen, big fluffy towels. Lots of room and comfortable seating for a large family/group, with a large table big enough to fit everybody round. Lovely views, plenty of parking.

We had a great weekend stay, such lovely views and peaceful location, lovely big table for us all to sit around and big lounge with reclining sofas which were so comfy! Owners were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again!

A very lovely house in a fabulous rural location. We received a warm welcome with cake and fresh eggs. It felt very much a home from home and plenty of space for a large family party to relax and socialise.

Fabulous space for a large group. The place was a bit tired and creeky but the hosts were lovely.
