Frank’s View is a first floor apartment set within the majestic, former Zetland Hotel. This Victorian building remains the most prominent feature of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, taking its name from the Earl of Zetland, who sold the land on which to develop the town. He also performed the formal opening of the hotel on 27 July 1863.
Frank’s View has some of the best views along the whole Yorkshire coastline, looking across the bay of Saltburn to Huntcliff and out to sea. You get a feeling of grandeur and olden day luxury as you make your way up the grand old staircase to the apartment. A balcony wraps around the exterior, making a perfect spot to sit and relax with a drink and watch the waves roll in and out again. There are two comfortably sized bedrooms and spacious living areas, all with fantastic views. There is also the benefit of a private parking space.
Saltburn is an up and coming seaside town with many restaurants and cafés, and there is always something new happening in the town. The town attracts surfers and fishermen, as well as those wanting to spend time building sandcastles. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink along the promenade and at the top of the cliff, and you can travel in style to both the promenade and the pier by using the oldest operating water-balance cliff lift in the country!
The Ship Inn along the beach is still famous for its link to pirates and smugglers, and you can get a feel for this as you walk the beach and admire the cliffs that surround the bay. The Cleveland Way snakes through the coastal area of the town, and stretches all along the cliff tops and down into various bays and coves along the Heritage Coast.
The town is right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, so is ideally situated for those who want to walk or cycle on the moors and sample some of the prettiest countryside in the county, with its hundreds of pubs and restaurants serving home cooked food and a warm welcome. Take a nostalgic ride on the steam train that chugs its way from Whitby deep into the heart of the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ country and Pickering. Alternatively, explore the many bays and coves along the coast such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay or Staithes. Each has its own historical story of pirates and smuggling.

The harbour town of Whitby is just 20 miles away and is an experience of its own. Home of Whitby Abbey, which was made famous by Bram Stoker’s ’Dracula’, cobbled back streets, quirky shops and Whitby harbour. Keep an eye out for the many festivals and events held here each year, from regattas to a Goth festival, or take a sea fishing trip on one of the many tourist boats.

York is just over an hour’s drive away, where you’ll find the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre, or just enjoy a lovely day out exploring the walls and cobbled streets. There is also a variety of theme parks in the area, such as Lightwater Valley, Beamish Museum and Flamingo Land to keep the young, and the young at heart entertained. Beach 250 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub 50 yards and restaurant 150 yards.

Frank’s View is our favourite place to stay in Saltburn-By-The-Sea having stayed there on three occasions within the last eight months! Fabulous views from the first floor apartment and very conveniently located for shops, cafes, restaurants, bus stops and station. An added bonus is the allocated parking bay at the back of the building.

Beware !! This property is NOT for the disabled, there is no wheelchair access as there are only multiple step entries at front and rear! There is no disabled parking and the allotted parking spaces are very narrow, too narrow for any disability!! If you need access to a socket to enable charging of electric scooters etc. there isn’t one, as I found out too late to cancel, so had limited mobility for my stay. When I complained, I was given the brush off, the implication being that it was all my fault. In all the years we have been booking holidays, we have found that owners are quick to point out if a property is unsuitable for the disabled. The apartment itself was otherwise very good.

Great. We stayed as a family of 4, a 10 month old and 4 year old. Loads of space. I liked they left a cot bed and chair for the infant, even though we had not asked. Previously concerns about hard beds and chairs clearly sorted with new furniture! We would go back.

Beautiful location, well-equipped and warm apartment, stunning views from the windows - the furniture could have been better arranged to make the most of them (we moved some things ourselves!). Feather duvet does not suit everyone with allergies.

Such a fantastic place to stay, lots of character and amazing floor to ceiling windows in every room enabling you to make the most of the fantastic views. Saltburn by the sea is now one of my favourite places with lots of places to eat out. One little niggle and it is only little, the settees were a little uncomfortable but otherwise fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at Frank’s View. It’s a beautiful, spacious, grand apartment with stunning views. This break was the first of three bookings. So that says it all. We look forward to our next two visits in 2019.

We stayed for four nights. Apartment is well equipped and stunning seaviews .The sofas were a little low but comfortable all the same. Tea coffee etc was provided, and towels and hand soaps in the kitchen and bathroom We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would difinetley book again. We did lots of exploring with the kids, they loved the valley gardens and climbing cat nab which is a little hill you can see from the apartment. Lots to do and the town and supermarket just round the corner also. We loved it here.

Fabulous location, beautiful sea views. The only down side was the very hard beds and the uncomfortable sofas which let the place down as everything else was perfect.
