Garden Cottage is a stone built, detached Victorian cottage in its own enclosed garden situated on Strachur Park. The cottage is approached by 250 yards of rough farm track that leads from the village of Strachur along an avenue of beeches to the old walled garden, which is no longer in use, and to the fields and woods beyond. The cottage is light and airy and all the rooms look out onto the peaceful parkland.
Strachur is just a short walk away, with a post office/shop, petrol station and two local pubs; Dunoon is a half hour drive and has all main amenities, and there are several good restaurants close by and in nearby Inveraray.
Dating from 1789, and still owned by the original family, Strachur Park comprises lush pasture with avenues and woodlands of mature trees - mostly limes, beeches and Scots firs. Take a stroll on one of the woodland walks with rhododendrons and rare shrubs, as well as nature trails offering an abundance of wild flowers and wildlife. There is also a small river running through the park and a secluded lochan, perfect for a picnic. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

A great base to explore a quieter part of Scotland, still with big mountains close by. Saw red squirrels in the beautiful grounds. Great place for kids; rope swings and stream to entertain. Near enough to Dunoon for supermarket. Came back after 15 years, and it's still lovely.

Had a lovely week away in Garden Cottage. The cottage is beautifully presented the only issue been when you have dogs, which we had 2 was the white sofas. It had a garage, shop, bar, restaurant nearby. 20mins drive to Inverary. Plenty walks locally too.

Beautiful cottage, lots of space with large kitchen and two sitting rooms plus two bathrooms so would be great for families. There was only my hubby and myself plus our two dogs but cottage was lovely and cosy despite the weather being typically Scottish and very wet. Cottage is well equipped although missing a few extras like a microwave, an ironing board and a clothes airer for hanging up wet outdoor gear, and we had loads of that! We did however have a wonderful time and are hoping to make a return visit late spring/early summer next year.

Lovely cottage that was far better than the photos led us to expect. The cottage was clean and generally well equipped with plenty of comfy seating. The only thing missing was a microwave. Strachur is in a beautiful position and the local shops can provide any essentials. Overall we had a great holiday and would heartily recommend Garden Cottage.
