The cottage is lovely & warm & very cosy & we did enjoy our stay. The area is beautiful & quiet. Walks are amazing & the scenery in the area is breath taking. The cottage is perfectly placed. Reading through the comments book & other reviews & having stayed in cottages twice a year for 25 years, I can only assume that the owners dont really read the comments left as things that would make a stay much more comfortable & easier haven't been implemented & nothing done about it. There is no microwave for instance, that doesn't help when you are trying to avoid spending ages in the kitchen cooking, when you could be doing other things. When we arrived after a very long drive, it would have been nice to find some milk in the fridge to make a cup of tea. A welcome pack would be most welcome as many people do have to travel long distances. At first we couldn't find the kettle as it had been put away & was quite an old kettle. We also had to empty the dishwasher as it had crockery in there. The house is advertised as dog friendly but white sofa covers, no cushions on the sofa so had to use pillows on them, pale carpet & white painted floorboards doesn't really help when you have 2 dogs going on walks & doing what dogs do best, getting wet & muddy. The fact that there was only an old mop & an extremely small & not very useful Hoover to clean up with didn't help trying to keep the place clean. No tea towels in the kitchen, so had to use a small hand towel to dry up from the shower room. An outside light would be handy as it's extremely dark at night. Fortunately my husband had a torch in his truck he could use. I think the stairs which are also painted wood & very slippy, need looking into as previous comments have been made regarding this issue. There is no handrail & the colour blends into the hall flooring, so in bad light you can misjudge the bottom step, which did happen. Maybe carpeting would be better. Maybe a box of matches would have helped to light the fire! These are niggles more than anything but they are small things that could easily be remedied & would make visitors stay much more comfortable & enjoyable & want to return.

Without knowing the area, we booked Garden Cottage as our Border Collie gets very stressed by fireworks and we wanted a quiet and peaceful escape from the relentless volleys where we live. Garden Cottage provided a most peaceful and tranquil base for spending a week enjoying spectacular scenery. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived and opting for a cottage with a real fire was a most excellent choice. The cottage had all the amenities we needed and was as described. Unfortunately, we were not fortunate enough to meet the owner but perhaps we will the next time. Choosing to go in November meant that some attractions in the area were not available but the autumn colours more than made up for it and the snow capped mountains were most wonderful to behold. Besides, there was still plenty to do and we ventured to Dunoon, Oban, Seil Isle and took the ferry to Tarbert. Even out of season, with no tearoom, Crarae Gardens was a great excursion. The Fyne Farm Brewery tour is excellent value but the culinary highlight of our stay was the Afternoon Tea at The Loch Fyne Hotel in Inverary. (Bring a very health appetite!!!!) Leaving Garden Cottage was not easy and we plan to return in a different season to see the area in different attire and in a different light.

had a lovely time despite the rain. Staff are very friendly and helpful

A lovely place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed, particularly because of the great walks around the estate, the delicious edible fungi that we gathered and ate (don't do this if you're not experienced at identification), and the huge number of bats that live in the roof of the porch and can be seen to come out to forage every night.

A great base to explore a quieter part of Scotland, still with big mountains close by. Saw red squirrels in the beautiful grounds. Great place for kids; rope swings and stream to entertain. Near enough to Dunoon for supermarket. Came back after 15 years, and it's still lovely.

We had a perfectly lovely stay at this beautifully situated cottage.
