We love the rustic feel of this character cottage apartment, offering a romantic retreat in one of the most popular locations in the lake district.

Garden Cottage is found up nine stone steps and through a section of gardens to your private entrance door. Entering into the cosy lounge/dining room with an open fire for cooler evenings. The bedroom is beautifully furnished with soft textures and a comfy bed to ensure a relaxing and peaceful stay. The bathroom is en-suite, with a bath and over shower, ideal for long soaks after a hard day on the fells. The kitchen is very well equipped with ample storage, electric hob and oven, a small fridge with freezer box and dishwasher.
Outside the gardens are beautiful with views over the famous steppingstones, the river Rothay and the fells beyond and is complete with garden furniture to enjoy alfresco dining.
This cottage is only a 20-minute walk from the centre of the beautiful, historic town of Ambleside, one of the most popular towns in the Lake District. It boasts a wide selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, and a choice of two cinemas. Take a stroll to Waterhead Pier which dates back to 1845 and this is the gateway to ferries which can be taken to Bownessand Lakeside pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle and Brockhole Visitor Centre. There is a huge range of outdoor adventure activities available around Ambleside and Windermere Lake ranging from abseiling and climbing to bushcraft and sailing.
If you prefer less energetic pursuits, then Just a short walk from Ambleside is the National Trust owned Stagshaw Gardens. Covering about 8 acres, the gardens have a fine collections of rhododendrons and azaleas and ericaceous trees and shrubs or the impressive Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70 foot waterfall which may be viewed safely from a railed viewpoint. The Armitt Museum is a purpose-built home for a collection of books, manuscripts, water-colours,archaeological remains, geological specimens and assorted paraphernalia. It also houses an area dedicated to Beatrix Potter or you may prefer to visit the remains of Galava Roman Fort, and if that’s not enough to keep you busy, then Ambleside is the ideal base for exploring the rest of the Lake District. Beach 24½ miles. Pubs and restaurants 2 miles.
