Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, although a shared garden this was not an issue as the residents who shared the garden were very nice and friendly.

Lovely little cottage, nicely laid out and complete with the most gorgeous range fire in the front room. I've driven through Alston plenty of times but have never stopped and was pleasantly surprised. Best food in the village was found at Lowerbyer Manor, closely followed by the Indian Restaurant situated within the Victoria Inn. Only criticisms of Gilmore House are, I felt that privacy glass should be fitted to the bathroom windows and for a cottage that allows dogs to stay a stronger vacuum cleaner should be provided, in reality there's nothing really wrong at all. Would definitely recommend and may even book it again in a few years or so.

Upstairs of cottage is a lovely spec. Unfortunately downstairs is a disappointment. Carpets old and grubby, my dog came home with fleas and I was bitten on my feet and ankles. The cottage is far to remote for us in a tired and run down market town..
