Completely refurbished to a high standard, Glebelands Lodge is a Grade II listed stone-built property standing within its own grounds in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick. A single storey, gothic style lodge, it is tastefully furnished and enjoys a lovely homely ambience.
There are two entrances, the main entrance via 4 steps into a large light filled kitchen, well equipped with all modern appliances. The spacious living area features three large arched windows, comfortable sofa and smart TV. Two bedrooms, the master bedroom with double bed, walk-in closet and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has twin beds. There is a separate bathroom with a walk-in rainfall style shower. To the rear of the lodge is a small sunroom, a perfect spot to curl up with a book. This leads out onto the rear patio and side, lawned garden. Set with bistro table and chairs, it is a lovely private spot to sit and enjoy a morning coffee. There is a separate level access here around the side of the house, ideal for anyone with limited mobility.
The cottage benefits from being within easy walking distance of a wide array of amenities in this highly sought after destination. A cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops and a variety of pubs are all close by. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) is a popular visitor attraction. Take time to visit Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, which includes a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden, as well as a fabulous restaurant set in the largest tree house in Europe! A visit to Barter Books, the second hand bookshop in the former station building which has open fires, interactive mural, model railway and café is highly recommended.
The picturesque coastal village of Alnmouth, where there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops, is only 4 miles away. Sailing enthusiasts have availability to a yacht and small boat moorings within the sheltered estuary. Golfers will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton, which enjoys panoramic views. There is easy access to the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage coastline, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the east, and the wild and lonely expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills to the west. Beach 5 miles.
