Guests will fall in love with Glenwood house before even stepping inside: Nestled into the side of a quiet hill, the stunning exterior oozes charm while the wrap-around gardens provide an incredible vantage point from which to take in the surrounding countryside on a sunny day. The gardens are south-facing and have outdoor furniture on a top terrace where guests can soak up the sun in the summer.
Stepping inside the cottage into the kitchen, guests will find it well-stocked with all the amenities and utensils required to cook up a feast. There’s a handy dishwasher and washing machine for guests’ use as well. The kitchen then opens up into the main living and dining area which is perfectly designed for a relaxing time away. The exposed beams, pine doors and oak furniture make it an ideal place to sit in comfort and the large gas-burning stove in the huge fireplace will help keep guests toasty even during the coldest winter months. The cottage comes well-stocked with a selection of board games, books and maps on the local area and a DVD collection for the evenings spent indoors.
The house bathroom can also be found on the ground floor and is recently renovated to include a large freestanding shower.
Up the stairs can be found the two good-sized double bedrooms with king-sized beds and vaulted ceilings. Both bedrooms enjoy countryside views across the small valley and come with plenty of storage and hanging space. The master bedroom has the added advantage of its own private wash basin.
Glenwood house is situated on the edge of Alcombe, itself part of the larger town of Minehead. The local pub is only a 5 minute walk down the lane, with the local bakery only a short distance beyond that.
The cottage is perfectly located on the edge of the Exmoor National Park and is near to the starting point of the South West Coast Path - England’s longest waymarked footpath which stretches for 630 miles. Inland can be found countless other footpaths making it the perfect property for hikers and dog walkers. Meanwhile, the town of Minehead offers the ideal destination for a family seaside holiday - it boasts a beautiful, long, flat sandy beach, a charming harbour, a bustling town with plenty of independent shops and cafes and family attractions.
The picturesque village of Dunster is also very close by with its splendid castle and yarn market while Watchet, Porlock and Porlock Weir are all also worth a visit, the latter being a very popular spot for crab fishing and water sports.
Glenwood house has private parking bay opposite for one car. A second car can parked on the quiet street around the corner.
