This was a great holiday home with everything we needed, the number of single beds was particularly helpful as we were a mixed family group. Everything was clean. There were 3 bathrooms which helps with a larger group. The barn was peaceful and in a great location. Walking distance of a Spar shop and near a lovely little village with pubs, but also very rural. Great holiday and great price!

Grisdale Barn is in a lovely location. The size and layout of the barn was very good for the seven of us. The cleanliness was very disappointing. We found old contact lens on the floor by one of the beds. The carpets were in need of a hoover on arrival. The toilet in the single bathroom is not fixed firmly. We had a lightbulb explode when we turned on the light in one of the bedrooms, send fine glass everywhere. Also when we came home one night water dropped from the ceiling in the lounge by the large window. No one was is the house. No water was being used.

Grisedale Barn was perfect for my sister's and my family (4 adults, 5 children): lots of bedrooms and bathrooms/en suites. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped and we all very much appreciated the homemade biscuits, milk, tea bags and sugar that were there on our arrival. There were also other touches that made our stay more comfortable such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, salt and pepper, toilet rolls. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor space for us all and the short walk through fields to the pub in Threshfield (<1 mile) was enjoyed by everyone.

The location was perfect for a group of mountain bikers. There is direct access to Threshfield Moor and beyond from the front of the property. Hikers would enjoy the location. As many others have commented the property is in need of significant refurbishment. There are many examples which could be cited but indicative of the work needed are 1. Kitchen work surfaces worn through. 2. Fridge door shelves all missing. 3. Downstairs bedroom, which is next to the wet room and probably intended for use by mobility limited guests, has poor access through to the wet room. Mirror on the wall is at the end of the bed and is very difficult to use even for physically able guests. The clothes storage in this room is a set of coat hangers on a curtain pole. 4. The crockery and cooking utensils give the impression that they are a job lot from a car boot sale. Some pans are in great need of replacement. 5. Some of the beds were found to be uncomfortable. The property is priced at a level where it could be reasonably expected to have facilities such as WiFi and a barbecue. On the flipside the property is in a very nice location and is a character building. Creaky floors abound which has to be expected in a building of this age.

second year of visiting. Just suits our needs. will be booking again. Fridge door could do with replacing as all the 'pockets' are missing which cuts down fridge space.

The cottage is in a lovely location but it is very tired and dated internally . The pots and glasses in the kitchen had to washed before we could use them as they where dirty. The fridge and freezer had to e cleaned before we could use it as food remenents still in it .On the whole the cottage had not been cleaned very well The settees where uncomfortable.

Grisedale Barn provided great accommodation for our group. It was big enough to give us some space and at the same time cosy.

Cottage clean and well presented. Lots of space. Towels and bedding looking rather tired but overall cottage was fine for our group. Plenty of walking for our dogs in immediate area.
