Lovely cottage, in stunning location. First cottage we've been that didn't have a welcome pack. Log burner wouldn't light due to damp wood. Could do with more glasses. We did have a fabulous week's holiday and would consider going again.

The cottage was in a good position, with good, unobstructed views of the river. A super sitting out area is now in place, but the photo does not show it. Comfortable seating, and a glass wind-break. The mattresses in the two downstairs double rooms need replacing, the springs make for an uncomfortable night. The owner was helpful when we had difficulty getting the WiFi signal, which was excellent when we did manage it. He also had to talk us through using the electric ceramic hob; it was very tricky for us to get it switched on, and we had difficulty all week. A hand book of the way to use it, with pictures of the controls would have bee the answer. A large TV, with a good picture, and comfortable seating, plus a good dining table and chairs made for a good holiday.

Lovely outlook over the river and salt marshes, quiet peaceful location not far from Dumfries and beyond. The coast and countryside is beautiful and well worth visiting with lots to do and see outdoors. The kitchen is new and is fairly well equipped and managed to cook daily, bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and looked recently upgraded, bedding and towels very clean, some of the downstairs furniture is aged and a mismatch (looks like a saleroom visit) and the outside is tired and unkept and the septic tank overflow in the garden was overflowing. Not nice. The WIFI is very poor and had to use data all week for emails and to access netflix via xbox we took. The TV is old and not smart so if you want to want anything on an evening make your own provision. This could be a first class property if the outside and living area are upgraded to the same standard as the areas that have been done and my scores would have then been 9/10. This does not make it a bad property we had a lovely break but with a little TLC could be amazing.

We had a lovely holiday at Gullsway. We were a party of 9 including 3 generations. There were plenty of activities to interest us all in the local and wider area. Gullsway is a very pleasant house and easy to live in. There was plenty of room for us all. There are 2 good places to eat within walking distance and more choices not far away. We would happily choose to stay at Gullsway again and would love to explore the local amenities and those further away in greater depth.

The setting of the cottage is absolutely stunning. The beds were comfy and views from the rooms were lovely. The only let down was the amount of basic equipment, especially in the kitchen. There were only 3 very small sized saucepan so cooking meals was a challenge and there were only 5 of us. I wouldn't have coped had there been the 9 that the cottage sleeps. It would be more homely with some more kitchen equipment and basics like more toilet roll and dishwasher tablets ect. Also, the bath doesn't seem to run very hot, despite the tap water being booking. It was a pain having to top up the bath with kettles of boiling water to get it nice and hot. We did have a lovely stay, it provided great access for the 7 Stanes but it does lack that cosy, homely feel.
