Each cottage has its own style and attributes but all share lovely outlooks over farmland towards the Solway Coast 4 miles. Halls Bank Farm ref 13196 is a 17th-century sandstone farmhouse tastefully decorated. Its original outhouses stand in a walled courtyard where a stream runs through to the paddock. Berwyn Bank ref 15825 is a wonderful sandstone barn attached to Halls Bank Farm and has been skilfully converted retaining much of its character with some flagged floors and beams. A large living room on the first floor gives super views towards the Scottish mountains and Solway Coast. It was originally a bank barn therefore there is an external level access to both the ground and first floor. It also has a private enclosed garden. Previously a barn in a former 17th-century farmsteading Beckside ref 17926 is a charming single-storey detached stone cottage that has been totally restored with exposed beams and interesting features. It stands adjacent to the swimming pool. Spacious and well-presented Stackgarth ref 29673 is a charming detached holiday bungalow with thoughtful and welcoming touches. The market town of Cockermouth is 6 miles Keswick 14 miles and Buttermere 12 miles. Bassenthwaite Lake 6 miles. Private fishing on the River Ellen for salmon and trout 1 mile free of charge. Golf and horse riding nearby. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles pub ½ mile.     SUPERB! Four adults (one Disabled) and two dogs. We all had an amazing time in this beautiful, well kept home with every possible amenity in immaculate condition. The surrounding views are stunning, always spotting fresh views every day. Friendly owners, very helpful. Can't wait to revisit very soon and hope to stay a lot longer than just a week.     Beautiful bungalow with bags of space! Well equipped for our stay and lovely and warm. If you require shops nearby then this isn’t for you as it is out in the sticks but we knew this and took lots of food and drink. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

    Communication is terrible with the owners. We even had a random person pull up outside the accommodation and came and knocked on the door asking if we were the owner as they had seen a car... They could not get hold of the owners either! The hot tub was not heating up properly. We told the woman and she said she would sort it.... Never saw anyone and did not hear anything else. Eventually when it did get to a decent temperature about Wednesday.... it smelt awful... We never saw anyone checking it. So we didn't use it as we didn't want to risk illness! The swimming pool was too cold for our youngest member.... Again no one anywhere to tell! Also the first full day of the holiday the heating broke and so we stayed in for a man to do it. All in all terrible experience from start to finish... communication being the main issue. There is no information in the accommodation to let you know what to do with rubbish/heating/facilitiesetc.... In fact the worst communication I've ever had in conjunction with holiday lets ....

    When we arrived at the cottage it was lovely and warm, the Christmas lights were on and we immediately felt at home. The hot tub was a great addition. If you want to use the pool you need to book, we didn't realise this and by the time we did go onto the website there was only one slot left, it was the festive period so may not be so busy at other times.

    A very clean cottage well kept and maintained. Ensuite bathrooms and a large kitchen.
