This was our first trip since lockdown, due to my wife being front line NHS. As such a week away from the madness was something very much overdue. Having been unable to book anywhere half decent in Filey without being charged inordinate rates, we chose Hamilton Lodge as it was dog friendly and had enough garden space for the kids to play in the event that the beach’s looked like Bournemouth had a few weeks earlier. I had not read any reviews of Hamilton Lodge prior to booking, I just looked at the pictures and threw the dice. Yes, too many rooms for our needs but at least it was cheaper than a four birth caravan further north. Prior to setting off my wife however decided to read a number of reviews, such as the failure to provide salt and pepper, but more importantly the cleanliness of the accommodation. This filled my wife with some trepidation about the trip, her expecting that we would both have to don PPE (her having already spent 4 months wearing the stuff!) and clean the place ourselves, while the kids sat in the car with the dog!. Upon arrival, armed with sanitiser and wipes we entered the premises to find that the cleaners had either done their job or that the prior reviewers were at best miserable pessimists at worst bordering on negligent. We absolutely love this place, the accommodation is bright and clean! clean bedding and towels in all rooms, the furniture well thought out with more than enough space for two families let alone one. No flimsy cheap tables and chairs, everything good quality and in good working order. The top floor is a fantastic space to chill out with the kids playing cards and/or board games, which we did most evenings whilst taking in the fantastic scenery. The garden is massive and was great for various games of football, cricket and frisbee. A nod towards Trevor too, who came to cut the grass on Tuesday morning, which did not get in the way of any of our activities. Really friendly, helpful and thoroughly nice bloke. The location is also great, situated at the end of the village with two ways to access what turned out to be, on most days, an almost deserted beach. We had such a good time at Hamilton Lodge that during our stay we tried to book again for later in the year, only to find that there was no availably for the dates we had open. We do hope to return again however, next year, hopefully on more than one occasion. My wife has a large extended family, some of who visited us during our week away, who also found the accommodation to be fantastic. Note to the owner, if you do decide to open up the other side of the lodge, I am sure that we can fill that too. I did say to Trevor that however much we loved this place, I was reluctant to leave a review in the event that more people booked it before we had the chance to do so. But Hamilton Lodge is such an amazing place that we had to let the owner know this. I guess we had better get our dates in place for next year and get booking up quick! The weather was not the kindest, but I don’t think I can lay that one at the feet of the owner! We did leave some salt and pepper for the next visitors, just in case!

Needs some investment in the property. Cleaners need to do their job - dirty items in cupboards, things with mould growing on them. Shame such a great location is being wasted due to poor management.

The house is beautiful in a fantastic setting .Fantastic for dog walking very peaceful .The house needs a lot of t.l.c. and a good cleaning ,there is alot of damp in the house it needs alot of work and maintenance . On saying that we really enjoyed our stay there is everything you need to cook etc. Microwave needs replacing couldn't use as it was sparking .Bedding ,towels, bathroom ,utensils were all spotless but floors hadn't seen a wash in a while so before starting our holiday with a young baby we needed to clean first which isn't ideal when you have paid so much for a week.

Although the house was lovely it was feeling a little neglected in places and could do with a freshen up. Having a couple of spare black bin bags and simple items like salt and pepper make such a difference.

Need to hire different cleaners as house was in need of a good clean, no cleaning products as stated in welcome book, lots of maintenance issues which let such a lovely property down, fantastic garden

A wonderful holiday home. Yes, it has its little foibles such as an undulating floor covering but overall it was excellent value for money. Spacious inside with an enormous garden situated in a lovely village less than 100 yards from the sea. A perfect setting!
