Harrycroft is a well-appointed property ideally suited to large groups. Accommodation is well proportioned and there is plenty of room for all. The sound of the water cascading down the stream, at the bottom of the garden, is really therapeutic, it also blocks out the sound of the rain! On a constructive note: the bedding warmth is not flexible enough to cater for all temperature conditions, ventilation in ground floor bedrooms is poor, and the clear glass door onto the decking would benefit from some form of manifestation.

We stayed here as a treat for my son's birthday but we will definitely stay at HarryCroft again - absolutely loved the cottage. Lots of room for our party of 5 adults, great living areas and bedrooms. Some really nice touches: a selection of board games and books are nice to have, but the best part was the laminated maps of local walks. We did a few of those and they were very helpful, we definitely did walks that we would not have done. Plenty of parking for our two cars, mind you.. we didn't use them once we got to Grasmere, we just did local walks and used local shops/restaurants. Highly recommended. It seemed a bit pricy at first compared to other places, but the location and quality of the cottage were so good that it felt like a bargain in the end. Wish we could have stayed another week.

Very well equipped property, better than many we have stayed in. Lovely house, and nice , relaxed garden. The house was NOT spotlessly clean, with a few grimy areas and the bbq was absolutely filthy and un-usable. Some electrical problems; the light in the extractor over the hob did not work and a table lamp that had been placed nearby to help also did not work, despite trying a new bulb. The ceiling lights over the kitchen area often flickered or went off. The electrical faults were reported on the first Sunday but apart from a note left by the "maintenance person" accepting the issue with the ceiling lights, nothing was done. Disappointing to be charged 5 star costs (no discount for our party of just 2) with the above issues.

We had an amazing holiday with extended family for the week in Harrycroft, the place was lovely and clean, well equipped and in a perfect location. I think we walked into Grasmere at some point every day and it was so nice to be able to just go for a stroll into the village if the craziness of all the family in one house got a bit much! We walked Helm Crag from the doorstep and spent several days at Rydal and Grasmere lakes which are only 5 minutes drive. Whilst being close to everything the house is set away from any main road down a long drive so you still have plenty of privacy. There are a couple of minor things I would point out to anyone planning a trip here but they wouldn't stop me booking again. 1 - The garden is not fully enclosed so if you are bringing a dog who likes to plot an escape you would need to supervise them at all times in the garden and 2 - you are overlooked by a row of houses at the foot of the garden so it's not quite as private as it would appear in the pictures, this however wasn't a problem for us. I would only suggest one change and that is it would be good to have a gate on the decking at the top of the steps so if you do have small children (as we did) you can open up the bi fold doors without having to worry about little ones falling down the steps or escaping the garden. Overall a fantastic holiday and a perfect location.

We had 10 adults and two under 2’s with our party, we had the luck of having the king size upstairs room which was truly worth the money, this said a couple of the rooms did not have en-suite and therefore shared a bathroom. I would have been a little disappointed had I paid the same money for one of the other double rooms. We did have a fabulous view all round the house and a great location for getting into Grasmere easily. There was ample parking, we could park the car and not move it again for the week! All round a lovely place to spend the week.
