The Stable was a wonderful place to stay. A little difficult to find but that adds to its charm. The interior is lovely and cosy, just relaxation in a nutshell. There is another rental property attached but although there was 2 families with children occupying it, the most noise we heard was running water (I am very sensitive to noise). The location whilst remote was on an excellent road and even in the fog the local walks were easy to find. I would highly recommend to anyone with a need for a peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings, superb.

Lovely little cottage with beautiful views all around. The cottage was a little chilly at night and the kitchen utensils were a bit sparse. The bed was so comfortable - best night sleep in a long time. Very friendly and accommodating owners.

When we first arrived we was impressed it was spacious cottage for 2 people. The kitchen area is large and well equipped with white goods and nice tiled floor. The owner was friendly pointing some things out like one ring on the cooker didn't work and the cooker had no visible controls on it just a hand written piece of paper with how to use the cooker which I thought where it is on the cupboard door it was hard to read. It was lacking kitchen utensils. No handle for the grill pan. There wasn't any oven trays or dishes, no foil or dishwasher tablets. It was a good that I took my own. Lots of cups/mugs/glasses and plates and bowls for 2 people but only 1 frying pan and 2 saucepans which are non stick. The welcome pack which it really isn't one as you get the same in hotel bedrooms a pint of milk 2 teabags, 2 coffee and 2 sugar sachets. It shouldn't say it comes with wifi as the internet box is in the owners house so we could only get it to work near the lounge window sometimes, its very hit and miss sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't and it wasn't very quickThe bathroom is good size and nice wooden floor. The bedroom is spacious a nice wooden floor. The white curtains let to much light through and they need washing as they are dirty. The mattress protector is dirty had lots of hairs on it needs washing and the mattress topper had moved over to one side of bed. The bed wasn't that comfy for us.The white bedding had long black hairs inside it and we haven't got black hair. The green and red light from the smoke alarm/light was so bright and night it lit the bedroom up and the first night sleep wasn't brilliant because of the this but there wasn't anyone in the other cottage that night. there wasn't a problem until the guests arrives in the cottage next door. But the 2nd Night the guests arrived in the cottage next door young males and females about 10 of them and from 5pm there were noisy drinking and smoking right outside the kitchen door to the cottage we was stopping in and the noise continued music playing loud they where in and outside all the time slamming the back door, shouting and because of one of there bedrooms comes over into the cottage that we stopped in and because of the wooden floors we could hear them up and down the stairs every ten minutes to go to the bathroom and the toilet flush. It carried on there party and we decided we had enough we couldn't sleep because of the noise and the light from the smoke alarm/light didn't help. We got up at 2am packed and we left at 3am in the morning and the other guests was still up partying shouting up and down them stairs we could hear them so clearly. The owners house so close they can look right through the windows of the cottage so no privacy. The views are lovely. Some nice walks Luds Church and the Roaches are close to drive to. Leek for shopping is really close by, Matlock bath is 35 minutes drive. We will not be returning.
