Situated within 6 acres of the owner’s land and accessed by a rough track yet less than a mile away from the village centre. Heckberry Cottage dates back to the 1800s and retains much of the character of an older building but with plenty of contemporary features too. The living and dining area are open plan to the galley kitchen and are comfortable and practical with a large multi-fuel burner that heats the whole house. The views from the ground floor look straight across the fields out to the Weardale valley and are totally uninterrupted apart from the horses in the field opposite On the first floor are a shower room with shower cubicle as well as a comfortable double bedroom and compact bunk room that is ideal for children.\nThe cottage is a real find for couples to enjoy a romantic break small families wanting to explore the local area or guests who enjoy a walking or cycling holiday. It was our first Christmas away and we couldn’t have fallen more lucky. Jane & family where great. They went above & beyond what any other owner has done. The welcome tray .... was utterly amazing totally spoilt! Nothing was too much. So many walks from the cottage. Views amazing. The Cutest cottage ever in the most amazing quiet area ever. Can’t wait to return

On arrival we arrived to a roaring fire in the log burner. A welcome pack of food. We stayed at a wonderful location. It was peaceful and had breathtaking views. It was lovely to watch Tony’s daughter playing and feeding the horses. Tony went out of his way to help us, when we knocked our exhaust off, when coming down the track. He located a new bracket, so that the RAC could do a temporary repair. We would definitely stay there again and hope to do so again in the future. Lulla & Derek, from Nafferton East Yorkshire
