The setting and location are glorious. The house has been renovated with handsome old furniture and utilities. There is no garden and hardly any provision for sitting outside. The downstairs bedroom has a 'wet room' as its en suite bathroom, which is seriously inconvenient. Water floods everywhere when anyone uses it. There's a low beam upstairs which everyone banged their heads on. Being in the midst of farming country was appealing, though restricting for dogs. Lots of wonderful walks.

Charming cottage in a wonderful location. Excellent value for money. If the owner coudl do a few tweaks to property it would have got 10. It has 3 cheese graters but only 5 teaspoons. The wet room doesn't work properly and it could do with new mattresses and linen but this has not detracted from the beauty of the place and the value it represents.

Have been going to High Bands for several years and have always enjoyed our stay with family gathering from different parts of the North of England. However, the property is getting a little "tired." It needs some TLC. E.g. kitchen table been reduced in size and no longer comfortably sits 10 people. Glass ware inadequate, there were only 4 tea spoons for 10 people. No reasonable patio furniture, toilet seats broken or badly fitted. The central heating system is unfathomable and invariably breaks down and engineer has to be called out. Comfort of mattresses now getting old. Some bedding and pillows need replacing. However, overall a good property that just needs some attention.

A group of us (males) have stayed every year for a week for about 5 years now. In that time not much has changed. It's in a great location for walking and exploring the Dales which has some stunning countryside. The town of Hawes has everything you need and a variety of pubs, although some of the food is getting a little expensive for what it is. Unfortunately High Bands is getting to look a little tired and could do with a facelift and a little money spent on it. Our biggest gripes are that there is no garden furniture and the ensuite wet room in the downstairs bedroom is designed all wrong and just floods the bedroom itself! We have all said after this May's visit that the place looks tired and we definitely wouldn't bring our partners as they have higher expectations of places we have rented in the past. Think we might be giving it a miss in 2020 unless we are informed that the owners have spent a bit of money on it?

The cottage is lovely and in a really nice area but we, as a family, thought it needed at least a week where no one stays in it and for it to have a deep clean and a lick of paint as you can see that due to the fire, the walls have started to discolour and isn’t as bright. That’s the only thing we thought was the only downside to the cottage other than that, the overall stay was lovely and we really enjoyed our time there.

The cottage is lovely and in a beautiful setting. Lots of walks on the doorstep and lovely pubs in the town within walking distance. It was quite cold when we arrived and we struggled to get the heating working and no starter pack for the fire but once we got the oil heaters into the bedrooms and bought kindling for the fire the cottage soon started to warm up. The heating did tend to work downstairs but not upstairs but not a problem as there was underfloor heating. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could want although we had no WiFi throughout our stay. We stayed here with all the family and 4 dogs and would definitely return.

As a party of 9 & 2 dogs, we arrived at High Bands on a cold, wet evening to find a nice spacious house. A good size kitchen with enough seating for everyone to sit at the table & ample comfy seating for everyone in the living room. Once settled in, we felt the whole place could do with a thorough clean. The house was very cold, although there were electric heaters the actual central heating did not seem to be working. ( this was rectified the very next morning ) We'd requested the downstairs bedroom to be made up as a twin however this had not been done & did upset the room plan for our party & meant that we had to use the sofa bed in the living room & although there is one room described as having 4 beds, the 2 pull out beds would only be suitable for small children. The downstairs bathroom did not have a light or a toilet seat which left us with 2 bathrooms for a large group with one of these being ensuite, so not ideal. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the surrounding area is very picturesque, enjoying some lovely walks, a visit to the Wensleydale creamery & a delicious Sunday lunch in Hawes.

Lovely location, cottage perfect for 8 people and 2 dogs, plenty of space and well equipped. However it does need some tender loving care, the heating is problematic and has been mentioned time and time again in the visitor book so I can’t understand why it has not been addressed. No Wifi at all and the modem indicates there is a fault again why not deal with it. Cleanliness is an issue dirty crockery on arrival, the windows were very dirty with cobwebs and some moald, again easily rectify with deep clean. Outside kennels not fit for purpose so don’t book if planning to use these. Fire difficult to get right, starter pack useless take matches and kindling don’t rely on what they leave. However we did have a lovely holiday I would go again but I would suggest the owner goes and stays for a few days they will then understand the small changes needed to make this a wonderful cottage

We had a lovely week at the Cottage which is set in a rural location. The location was set in truly typical Yorkshire Dales countryside, green fields, cascading streams and excellent walks. The Cottage was very homely and well equipped. The only down side to our stay was the central heating for the upstairs radiators was not working. To overcome this we used the electric oil filled radiators downstairs and during the day we made full use of the wood logs which were provided for the downstairs wood burning stove. The weather was very mild during our stay, if it had been colder we would we would have struggled to keep the house warm. On the Friday one of the Cottage maintainance men made a casual visit and corrected the heating boiler.

Perfect location. A short break for 8 adults 4 children 3 dogs absolutely ideal accommodation. Unfortunately there was a plumbing issue in The en-suite and leakage into lounge below. The boiler worked fine on arrival but stopped on 2 /3rd day could not be resolved. We had log burner going and the accommodation was warm enough. These minor issues did not spoil our holiday. We would be happy to book again.
