    Comfort and Equipment

    Value for money

A really enjoyable week away in a very peaceful location. Plenty of space and very well equipped. Only little gripes would be a lack of garden for children and dogs to play in and what felt like a daily inspection from the owners who were staying very nearby and appeared about 5 times during the week ! Would definitely return though as it was a gorgeous place all round.

What a fantastic cottage for large families. We all had a brilliant time . The cottage is well equipped and great value for money but no local shop open on a Sunday.

Very enjoyable New Year family break, well equipped cottage with lots of character, wood beams, wood burning stove in a large family style lounge, ample parking for our 4 cars. Huge family kitchen. Nice walks for our dogs. Approximately a mile to one and half mile walk into Hawes which we did most days, with our dogs, to collect a newspapers. Further through the village is Hawes old station where there's is a dog friendly café for coffee and snacks. White Hart Inn in the centre if we fancied a beer, dogs are allowed in bar area. Underfloor heating on the ground floor and in all 3 bathrooms. Only downside was that the upstairs radiators didn't work, though it wasn't a problem for us, we prefer cooler bedrooms and bathrooms were always nice and warm.

Heating not working - a problem in December! House freezing and Visitor's Book revealed this is an ongoing issue. No welcome note etc or wine, as is usual in properties, and house not decorated for Xmas. Rather a disappointment!

A unique location offering a great venue for a large party /family. Our stay, in November, was spoilt by a lack of heating. The boiler/heating system has a fault which leads to the pressure in the boiler dropping causing it to cease working. I had to top up the pressure every day but imagine not everyone could do this. We were shown how to ignite the boiler by a tradesman. Otherwise things would have been worse. Not withstanding this we could not get any heat to the first floor at all so no drying towels! What makes it even worse is the fact that comments along similar lines have been put in the visitor for the last 2 years! We thought cosy evenings looking a log fire would be lovely but no! Once the fire was lit we had to shut the solid metal doors to stop the smoke pouring out and setting off the Carbon Monoxide alarm! Not good with a couple of dogs and 3 children under 4 years old. This is a serious problem and once again one of long standing. Whilst the bedding was clean it was old and "grey". Not up to scratch in my opinion . We found our stay disappointing and I would certainly advise people to avoid in cold months.

I have stayed at this cottage numerous times and love it . I was slightly disappointed this time the radiators upstairs did not work and the fire in lounge smoked resulting in the fire alarm being set off. We used electric heaters to keep warm and when we used both ovens when cooking a Sunday roast the power went off twice resulting in us having to turn off the radiators whilst cooking. We love the house and location and will return but this made our stay disappointing.

This property has a lot to offer. Unfortunately the owners are clearly just taken the money and not listen to the client complaints... I could list them but I'm not going to bother . As the owner for the last 3 years has done nothing to sort the issues. It was my father's 80th. And half my family left before the week was up..thus was due to the property

The cottage is in a perfect location and very well equipped but there are ongoing problems that have been reported in the guest book several times and no action has been taken. The bed in the downstairs room is broken. The downstairs shower floods into the bedroom. The boiler constantly going out and has to be reset. The large bedroom is extremely damp and fusty. Outside light at rear of property not working. These little problems have been reported so many times and spoils this lovely cottage, it’s time for the owners to invest and give this lovely place a lick of paint and allow holiday makers to enjoy it at it’s full potential. We did not allow these problems to spoil our holiday and did not report issues as we could see that nothing would get done from all the previous entries in the guest book. We were very blessed with good weather for late October but relied on the electric radiators which again had wheels missing.

The setting and location are glorious. The house has been renovated with handsome old furniture and utilities. There is no garden and hardly any provision for sitting outside. The downstairs bedroom has a 'wet room' as its en suite bathroom, which is seriously inconvenient. Water floods everywhere when anyone uses it. There's a low beam upstairs which everyone banged their heads on. Being in the midst of farming country was appealing, though restricting for dogs. Lots of wonderful walks.
