My husband and I had a very pleasant week at Lapwing cottage. One of the reasons for choosing to stay here was because I have some mobility problems and it was important to me that we had a single level property. It was well equipped, although the WiFi had a tendency to be slow and occasionally dropped out. This wasn’t a particular problem for us but it might be important to some. The furnishings were comfortable and well maintained and the decor was modern and clean. The location is rural and the nearest village is a car ride away, but there are a couple of decent little grocery shops for supplies and there is an excellent pub, The Anglers Arms, within walking distance for the able bodied (2 minutes drive by car). Considering the property’s rural isolation it is not too far as the crow flies from a fairly busy A road, and it is possible to hear this during the day if the wind is in the wrong direction, but this is not heard when inside the house and it wasn’t a problem at night. The owners live in the farm house nearby and are very pleasant, and although we didn’t need to ask for assistance with anything we knew where to go if we needed to. There were lots of maps and leaflets of local attractions available and the information supplied was excellent. I would recommend this property.

We had a great week in Lapwing Cottage. The location was excellent, only about 6 miles to Rothbury and not far to travel to some of Northumberland’s spectacular coastline in the other direction. We brought our dog and this is a great location as there are so many good dog walks in the surrounding area. Louise and her family were very hospitable. The scones we got on arrival were delicious and from a local Artisan Bakery. The place was spotless and comfortable and the location peaceful. For anyone interested in stargazing we had a couple of crisp clear nights and the stars were beautiful. This place is a gem, tucked away in Northumberland and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others go are looking for a cosy place to stay with access to all the benefits Northumberland has to offer.

It was our first visit to Northumberland and we really couldn’t have picked better accommodation. Louise and her family were very friendly and welcoming and the cottage was lovely. In a great countryside location, local pub within a short walk serving good food and popular attractions within easy reach by car

Lovely cottage with friendly and welcoming owners. It has everything you'd need in a cottage, and is well presented and modern inside but with traditional features. Set in a quiet and peaceful location in which to unwind, but with good access to all the excellent scenery and destinations that Northumberland has to offer. We will come again
