We booked Highmoor Cottage based on the photos showing bright , light rooms, and the description on the booking website, particularly the use of a heated swimming pool. At the time of writing the review the cottage is still ungraded and so our comments may help those going to Highmoor Park Cottage decide for themselves before booking . The cottage is set in wonderful grounds and a great location for Henley-on-Thames and surrounding areas.Unfortunately the Cottage experience fell massively short of expectations in every aspect. On arrival we found the cottage to have a major fly problem which lasted for the 5 days we were there(7 days were booked) , the rooms were very dark, dingy and all cupboards were cluttered with owners personal belongings. The kitchen units are in need of repair/ replacement and there was no cupboard space for our foodstuff. We understand the cottage has been used as an AirBNB . One of the cupboards was full of flies and animal (probably mice) droppings and overall all cupboards needed a good clean. The bedroom had no wardrobe or hanging space or hangers although there were drawers. The bed was a double and not a king size as advertised which was a big disappointment. The main reason we booked this property was for the use of the heated swimming pool, however this didn’t happen as the pool hadn’t been heated, treated or filtered. The owners & housekeeper were on holiday for the first 3 days of our stay although we note a previous review in June also refers to the pool being unheated. When the owners returned they did offer to put some of the issues right however we had decided to leave early given the poor experience. Overall this cottage could be a good experience but not in its present condition. The WiFi signal was poor & intermittent.
