This large detached farmhouse is situated on a small working stock farm just 1½ miles from the pretty village of Harby with its organic farm shop, and is just 7 miles from the popular market town of Melton Mowbray. Surrounded by open countryside, the verdant landscape offers all sorts of outside activities, and with excellent walks and cycle routes straight from the door, Hill Farm provides an ideal family base for exploring the attractions of the neighbouring countryside and counties. Set on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir, Belvoir Castle is nearby and the magnificent 3000-acre Rutland Water attracts visitors worldwide to enjoy water sports, bird watching, walking and cycling. Take a trip aboard the Rutland Belle Cruiser, visit the famous ospreys at Egleton Nature Reserve, or browse around Barnsdale Gardens, designed by the late Geoff Hamilton. Sherwood Park, Rufford Country Park and Clumber Park are all well worth a day out, or you can enjoy a stroll alongside Grantham Canal with superb walks along the towpath. The market town of Oakham, Stamford and Grantham, as well as Melton Mowbray are all nearby, and for serious shopping, Nottingham is a must. A day spa with mini gym, outdoor Jacuzzi, indoor heated swimming pool (10m), sauna and refreshments can be found just a 2-minute drive away (pre-booking required). Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

I was completely surprised at how nice Hill Farm was. I have stayed in other lodges around the country and this one tops them all by quite a margin.
It was perfect for us all to have a base location whilst we were out hiking and racing in the area.
We had a brilliant few days in this very well equipped, spacious, homely, comfortable farmhouse. The location is perfect and the only sounds around are occasional noises from the farm animals. As a destination for a family (spanning 3 generations) celebration, this ticked all the boxes.
Had my hen do here 10 of us stayed the weekend! The owners had left cakes and Prosecco in the fridge for us!! Just a lovely touch! Very comfortable too.

We stayed at Hill Farm over the Easter weekend, we all had an amazing time and the cottage itself was fantastic and big enough for the 10 of us that stayed. The farmer, was very friendly and was always more than happy to show our children what he was doing. The cottage itself was a little remote, so you need cars to get about. One of the graves in the kitchen kept freezing what was in there, if that could have been because how tightly it was packed with bbq meat and breakfast essentials. Not to great a discomfort for what was a brilliant stay and one we didn’t want to leave. Would highly recommend to anyone.
We had a lovely time at Hill Farm, the setting in the countryside is super and the kids loved the animals. The house was very clean and spacious and really well equipped. It was a downstairs toilet away from perfect, we had three young children with us.

We were a mixed group of infants, children, cousins, aunts/uncles and grand parents having a pre-Christmas get-to-together. The farm setting was brilliant for the children, walks on the door step. The large lounge was all we used as we were generally in and out of the large, sociable kitchen. The welcome pack was appreciated as was the dog goodies. Very caring owners.

Stayed for a long weekend with friends. Even though the website said pub in 1 mike it’s actually 1.7 miles, and there are no local taxi firms.
On the Saturday evening one of the upstairs toilets blocked (seems to be a common theme reading the reviews) and owner didn’t seem overly concerned so 8 of us shared one toilet. Could really do with a downstairs toilet as well. Need to sort the wasps nests in the guttering. Left the window open in the bathroom only to be bombarded with a swarm of them over the light which luckily as there was wasp killer spray we managed to kill them. Overall a nice place and we had a great stay.
Overall very good. Wonderful farm setting. Scoring was only reduced as one shower was Out of action and one toilet difficult to flush! Otherwise a lovely, clean and homely stay. Thank you
