    Holly Bank enjoys stunning views, looking out across the valley to the lake and mountains, stretching from Skiddaw, Sale Fell and Lords Seat to the Borrowdale peaks. This detached bungalow has an elevated position on the outskirts of Bassenthwaite village, in the vicinity of the osprey nesting site. It was renovated and fully refurbished, providing fabulous facilities, panoramic views from most rooms and is set in two acres of delightful grounds, with woodland area, stream, lawn, summer house, outdoor seating and eating areas and ample parking. The Sun Inn and Castle Inn Hotel are each within a five minute walk, both serving real ale and food. The vibrant market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are 10 minutes drive away with a local bus service from the Castle Inn.

    We had the most amazing time. My son got married at Armthwaite Hall. We would go there again my grandchildren loved every minute. The any down fall is the public foot path. Dogs are not kept on leads. Went out with my dog and 2 dogs being walked apeared out of no were. We had young children with us so had to check that unleashed dogs other than our pets were not about. Would love to go back its amazing.

    Beautiful cottage, lovely location, amazing weather. This is our third visit and we will definitely be back again. The grandchildren loved the lion teddies left for them, thank you. Put a couple of things in the improvement book, but nothing that spoiled our holiday and enjoyment of the cottage.

    The cottage was ideal for walks etc. The view was amazing and nice wildlife. Everything you needed was there and the lion cubs left for my grandchildren was a lovely touch. Drive steep but gave us no trouble and at one point had four cars.

    We were aware there was a public footpath through the grounds of the property but did not expect a large party of teenagers peering in the windows of the bedrooms

    Fantastic cottage - visited many times. Views are second to none. House is lovely inside and it feels like our second home. Downsides: 1) Access into the house is extremely poor for anyone with limited mobility - many narrow concrete steps with no (or wobbly) handrails. Sadly we may not be able to return because of this. 2) Bedrooms, other than the master bedroom, are very small.

    Lovely spacious cottage, kids loved the garden with stream, the woods and garden house. Good location for local and further afield walks. Downside was the journey to the outskirts of Keswick or Cockermouth for food shopping. Ideal for summer with patio area.

    What a wonderful stay we had at Holly Bank, very warm and cosy, every amenity you would ever need. The cottage is in the perfect location to explore the lake district and surrounding areas, without being too close the the busy tourist areas. Perfect dog walking from the door, through the woods up onto the ridge with amazing views. Talking of views we spent hours staring out at the view from the lounge which changed by the minute. We were also lucky enough to be visited by Red Squirrels, well worth putting out some nuts. Thanks again for an amazing cottage.

    All in all excellent holiday, location and bungalow superb. Shame the wood burning stove was not functioning despite staying in for the engineer, we assumed once he had been we could use it but this was not the case.

    Holly cottage is in an amazing position with fabulous views of Bassenthwaite Lake and surrounding mountains. The cottage makes the most of these views with large picture windows and a conservatory. It is the best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in and there is little that has not been thought of . We were disappointed to find a notice on the wood stove informing us that it was unsafe to use - in the wet, stormy weather it would have been nice.The notice was recent so hopefully it will soon be repaired. We also had not been informed that there is an informal footpath through the grounds of the cottage and on our first day we were astonished to see people just walking down our garden and drive. Two lovely places to eat within walking distance but quite a way to any other shops - however the shop in the caravan park is handy and sells all the basics. Very comfy beds and pillows and couches.
