We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay, cottage is huge and comfortable with everything you need. Very peaceful surroundings, 10 minutes drive to shops. Only reason to give less than a perfect 10 is that the heating didn’t come on at all, so towels weren’t able to dry properly and this would have made stay more comfortable. A Log fire is available though andwe used this first thing in morning and at night but conservatory was lovely and warm to sit in on the evening to watch the wildlife

Had a lovely stay. The cottage was clean and well presented, with everything we needed for our stay. We didn’t use the garden really as it is surrounded by an electric fence and the traffic on the road is very fast, so not ideal for 3 children <6 but this wouldn’t be a problem for older children and the location is beautiful. Enjoyed the short walk to the beach, which again was beautiful as is all the coast in the surrounding area. Lots of things to do near by for family a and history lovers. Great stay, would definitely recommend it.

Horsepark Cottage is stylish, spacious and warm. It is very well-equipped and we love the wonderful comfortable bed, the reliable wi-fi and the conservatory. For a family there would be plenty of space using the upstairs bedrooms - big and characterful. Sitting in the conservatory, you can see the varied garden birds on the feeders including Greater Spotted Woodpeckers. In the fields when we were there in spring, were new calves and lambs. Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright are close by and the sea is just down the road. It is a great base to explore Dumfries and Galloway with its Forest Park, Dark Sky Park, red kites, Wigtown the book town and just a wonderful place for a great relaxing holiday.

Had to purchase four bags of logs to keep warm in the evening. There is no control for the heating and the bedroom felt damp on our arrival. The bedroom radiator didn't come on at all during the week we were there. Not good on chilly autumn mornings.

Needs some basic updates. On first look the cottage appeared cosy with plenty of kitchen equipment and nice clean fresh bedding. However the kitchen sink with a wooden surround had wasted away and the wood was black and brittle. The sink in the ensuite was a poor design. The sink surround was constantly wet and the two toothbrushes cups were dirty and covered in old toothpaste. It was frustrating that all the heating and the cooker! we’re on timers so we could not adjust the temperature of the cottage. There were boosters outside both bathrooms which did heat the towel rails. The only other heating was a wood burning stove. This was great and cosy, but we had to drive to Castle Douglas for wood every other day. The conservatory was lovely but it didn’t have any lights in it so we could only use in daylight hours. The garden badly needs some attention. It was such a lovely garden but was overgrown with weeds, wild flowers and high grass. It had a seating area but just wasn’t nice to sit outside.
