Horseshoe Cottage is nestled in quiet and picturesque Nordham, on the outskirts of North Cave near Beverley. Thoughtfully decorated, adding to the cottage character, Horseshoe is warm and inviting, offering homely and comfortable accommodation for couples and families. The sunny gravelled courtyard garden has a bench where you can enjoy evening sunshine, and a large solid table which will sit up to eight people. There are two sun loungers for relaxing by the topiary flower bed. Most of the outdoor area is screen fenced, and the open area can be fenced on request for toddlers. Please ask about our fenced grass field for ball games and picnics which is near the village playing field and not far from the house. Off road parking is available for 1 car and additional free on street parking in front of the cottage for one or two more cars. The other off street parking slots are for Apple Loft and for Bay Tree Cottage. If you want to bring your bikes, there’s a building for storing them away out of sight.

There is so much to offer in this beautiful part of the world, with some lovely countryside and stream-side walks towards the Wolds Way, direct from the door. The Wetlands Bird Sanctuary is at the end of the street, a great place to enjoy the sunset as well as the birdlife. ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ cycling on the quiet Wolds roads is something special for enthusiasts, with plenty of routes to enjoy. There’s fishing, diving and kayaking available in the village, and clay pigeon shooting nearby. Little Wold Vineyard in the neighbouring village runs wine tasting tours arranged via their website. For families, award winning William’s Den in North Cave is highly recommended for adventure play and for old fashioned free fun, the village playground is just around the corner, with the stream for pooh sticks on the way! Don’t forget to bring your children’s bikes and scooters for the quiet route through parkland two minutes from the door.

North Cave is the Gateway to East Yorkshire’s Nature Triangle and in addition to the Wetlands, we have a variety of wildlife in our woodland which you can visit. The wildlife along the Wolds Way and in Drewton Dale never ceases to amaze. NGS garden Fawley House is just next door for an arranged garden visit and there are two garden centres in the village. A vegetable basket is offered during your stay in the growing season from the gardens at Fawley House if wanted.

If you are looking for speciality foods, Drewtons Farm shop on the outskirts of the village specialises in fresh local foods; really popular for food shopping and their award winning restaurant. There’s a pub five minutes away and the very popular Hotham Arms servinggreat food, a short walk through the park. Other pubs serving food are in South Cave, Ellerker, Newbald and Sancton, all just over 3 miles away. We have plenty of good supermarkets nearby and there is an array for foodies in Beverley.

Situated just two miles from the M62 makes Horseshoe Cottage easy to get to, and well located to explore the area. It is really close to the market towns of Beverley and Market Weighton, both very popular. The historic city of Hull, city of culture in 2017, is only 20 minutes away and York is 45 minutes. Both offer many different experiences: The Deep, a day at the races, York dungeons, Viking Museum or retail therapy, theatre and live music and not forgetting the mighty minster. North Cave is 35 minutes from the coast for a walk on the beach and Yorkshire fish and chips, a grand day out!

Nordham Cottages - Bay Tree Cottage and Horseshoe Cottage, have been short-listed in the Remarkable Self Catering Provider category, for East Yorkshire’s Tourism Awards many times in recent years.

This property can be booked together with Bay Tree Cottage (CC253005) to accommodate up to eight people.
