I am really pleased I booked Ivy Cottage. It looked lovely and I'm pleased to be able to say it IS very lovely! We found the location easily, after taking notes from a phone call I had with the owner the week before. We were able to park right outside the cottage all week, but you could fit 2 cars easily.
The cottage is nicely laid out, very clean and prettily decorated. It has a modern bathroom and nice, white kitchen. It is also the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a holiday cottage. Even a slow cooker and a mixer!
The owner also left some much welcome treats for us, which after just over seven hours on the road, were very appreciated. Scones, clotted cream, jams and milk. There was also salt and pepper, oil, coffee, sugar, oh all sorts of food bits in the cupboard. Hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom, kitchen towel, tea towels, and oven gloves. I could go on!
At Ivy Cottage there are patio doors out on to your own terrace and a few steps down to your own garden. There are garden chairs, a rotary airer w/cover. And a gate out on to the grounds, with a beautiful glass summer house and lake, it's all quite lovely, and so very peaceful. We also met the owners husband. He's an amazing character, with lots of useful tips about where to go and what to see. We never felt 'bothered' by them and knew they were close at hand if we had needed them. There was a full bird feeder on the patio, which wasn't full for long with the large amount of wild birds in the garden, and 3 very cheeky squirrels. We did buy some food to keep them topped up and saw coal, great and blue tits, robins, blackbirds and magpies.
Ivy Cottage is in a great location for visiting mid and south Wales. We even made it up to Corris on our last day, which is about 2 hours away. We both fell in love with Wales, the scenery is truly stunning. We would highly recommend this as a great place to stay, and would definitely hope to return one day. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
