Jorvik - Woodsmill Quay at Queen’s Staithe is in the heart of York; it was originally built in the 19th century and used as a timber mill. York has been a key trading port since Roman times and the River Ouse remained tidal until the construction of Naburn Locks in the 18th century. Queen’s Staithe played a prominent role in the commercial development of York and it’s still a working quay today.

    During 2000, Jorvik - Woodsmill Quay was converted into luxury apartments offering all of York’s world-famous sights and activities right on the doorstep. An ideal holiday base for exploring York and touring the North Yorkshire Moors and the Dales. The seaside resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are within easy driving distance. Shops 50 yards.

    the furnishings were well worn particularly the leather sofas; both showers suffered very badly from black mold; cushions in lounge area dirty; found socks and a dressing robe in the wardrobe; dirty tea towel in washing machine only discovered towards the end of the stay, this caused a very unpleasant smell in the washer, we did not use; toaster was not working properly. Whilst the location was good and off street parking was a bonus the whole ambience of the apartment was poor. It badly needed a good in depth clean and all the tags on cupboard doors marked OWNERS made us feel like interlopers. It certainly did not warrant the price.

    Our second visit and every bit as enjoyable as our first. Such a wonderful central location for all that York has to offer. The flat is so comfortable and well equipped.....we hope to return.

    We were in York for the last week of February last year and met the Beast from the East this year we were greeted with 20 degrees temperatures, We lunched alfresco everyday for the following week sampling a different riverside eaterie each day enjoying full sun and 20 degrees for the full week. Be scared be very very scared!!!

    Excellent apartment overlooking the river in the heart of York with the added bonus of a parking space. The accommodation has everthing you need for a relaxing break. This was our second stay at the apartment and we will definately return.

    Overall we had a great stay. We did have an issue with parking on arrival, however this was handled extremely well by the manager Margaret, and indeed by the owners. We would certainly be delighted to stay here again and look forward to another visit in the future.

    What a great place to stay. All the sites and amenities of York just a few minutes away. Wonderful views from the apartment over the river and York. The apartment itself retains the character of the former wharf but has all modern amenities. Recommended
