Stay in this well thought out and stylish holiday cottage which is just a 6 minute walk from the centre of the town with its large selection of pubs restaurants and cafes. You could discover for yourself why many authors musicians artists and celebrities have chosen to settle here. Rye is one of the best preserved medieval towns in England despite being the haunt of the notorious smugglers The Hawkhurst Gang. Visit The Mermaid Inn their famous hideout where the cellars date back to 1156. Visit the Rye Museum and climb St Mary’s Tower for breathtaking views across to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Winchelsea. See Lamb House the home of Henry James and later E. F. Benson and where they filmed the recent production of ’Mapp and Lucia’. Another great film location is Camber Sands and going in the other direction towards Hastings where ’Foyles War’ was filmed. There are also connections by train to London. Shop 300 yards pub and restaurant ½ mile. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/943/840/943756.jpg W43953

Kiln cottage is in a good location Shops and restaurants within walking distance. The cottage is well equipped and very cosy

A short Monday to Friday break in January probably not the best time to visit Rye, but Kiln Cottage is warm, compact and comfortable, and ideally situated; a short walk into Rye for pubs, restaurants and the town's attractions, a short drive to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve for walks etc

Lovely stay, the cottage is an extension of the owners house and you enter around the back of the property. Spacious front room where we placed the z bed as 2 ladies on holiday but not a twin in the bedroom. Easy walking distance into Rye and lots of info regarding local walks provided. Check out the waterworks in town for a friendly drink and chat. Would definitely stay there again.

We had an excellent stay at Kiln Cottage. Location is great for accessing Rye - less than 10 minute walk either through the park or following the road. Arrangement of accommodation is great for couple. Torch provided for night time walks. Outside lights worked fine. Nice range of books / DVD’s. WiFi worked well. No problems with shower. Flowers and tea and coffee very welcome. Val was very helpful with advice on where to eat.

Did not think it was a cottage more an extension on owners house (instead of double garage. Patio was large concrete slabs not suitable for dog, toxic plants in bedding. No grass, rules say please exercise off site, it was a very dark passage only entrance to door at back this was a hazard as concrete slabs with trip area I stumbled 3 times and told owners light was out was told no light in passage but mended light on back did not light up passage, a torch was available but only found after 4 days in back of bedside cabinet. Since it was a unmade road taking dog off site late at night was a hazard as no lights in road. Good for days out and near to Rye so week was not a total disaster.

Kiln Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Rye if you are a couple with dogs. This was our second visit and we will certainly be booking again. The first time we had a long weekend and this time we stayed for a week. We will be booking again for a week next year. Highly recommend it on all fronts. Great location, walking distance to all the best pubs, restaurants and shops in Rye.

    Clean and importantly quiet

The cottage was lovely and the owners were very welcoming. The downside for us was the shower didnt work properly and it wasnt fixed until Wednesday! Also the cottage is pet friendly but our dog is old so the lack of a back step meant that she had to jump out over the threashold not good for her arthritus and there is nowhere in the garden for dogs to pee. Overall our stay was good but we feel we should be compensated for the shower. Many Thanks Linda

Excellent place to stay. Very clean on arrival. Bed extremely comfortable, Good location for taking dog for walks. Very amenable owners who kindly changed the changeover day . Great to have an onsite parking slot. Nice quiet area with very little traffic noise.

An ideal wee cottage for two (or three if you count the dog!). Comfortable and very clean, it is also ideally placed for walking into Rye and accessing the surrounding countryside and beaches. Will be booking again, and happy to recommend.
