This cosy semi-detached cottage is situated on the private estate of Mondhui within the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, in a courtyard garden beside the original farmhouse, which dates back several hundred years. The cottage sits in an elevated position in the hills above the Lake of Menteith, Scotland’s only Lake, with stunning panoramic views of the Lake and historic Inchmahome Priory (founded 1238) which Mary Queen of Scots visited. Guests also have a 10% discount on dining at the fabulous Lake Hotel and Waterfront Restaurant at the side of the lake.
Mondhui itself has been a settlement since prehistoric times and above the property there are “cup and rings” markings. Within the grounds is a duck flighting pond which is ideal for bird watchers and beside the cottage there is a small pond. The area is a haven for birds and other wildlife including osprey, red kites, red squirrels, red deer, pine marten and badgers. From the door of the cottage you can walk directly up into the Menteith Hills and join the Rob Roy Way with hundreds of miles of forest track easily accessible. The cottage is furnished in a contemporary, country style with handmade wooden kitchen units, granite worktops and solid oak flooring throughout. Egyptian cotton linen and hotel quality towels are provided.
It is in the perfect setting for those who love outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, golf, pony trekking and fishing - the Lake of Menteith is Scotland’s premier trout fishing venue. It is also a great location for those simply wanting to chill out and enjoy the fabulous view of the lake from the covered porch, courtyard or from the comfy couch in front of the wood burner. Nick Nairn’s famous Cook School is only a few minutes drive away as is the popular Lake Hotel which serves good food at the lakeside. This is an ideal location from which to explore one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas or to use as a base to tour central Scotland. Within 10 minutes from the cottage you can be in Aberfoyle, Callander, the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park at the David Marshall Lodge or taking a sail on the Sir Walter Scott steamship on Loch Katrine.
Stirling with its ancient castle is twenty minutes away. Scenic Loch Lomond, the single biggest expanse of inland water in the British Isles, with its charming villages and bays to explore is only half an hour from the cottage. Gleneagles is 40 minutes drive. The cosmopolitan city of Glasgow is less than an hour’s drive with Perth and Edinburgh just over an hour away. There are many historic buildings, castles and distilleries to visit in the area. The Trossachs is a wonderful area to visit and no trip to Scotland would be complete without spending some time in the area. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The Mews can be booked together with The Stable (UK5062) and The Old Barn (UK5871) to accommodate up to 6 guests.

From the moment we arrived at the Mews we were pleasantly surprised by not only how stunning our accommodation was, which by far exceeded our expectations (the pictures just don’t capture how beautiful the scenery is). But also the love that has gone into making our holiday special by the owners Ronnie and Laura, from a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge on arrival, a welcome basket and then also freshly made scones most days by Ronnie which were delicious. Other nice touches were herbs in the kitchen to use for cooking and candles to light in the evening to sit outside with a glass of wine, it is rare these days to find such genuinely kind people, thank you for a lovely stay and for sharing your beautiful views. Great location, we will definitely be back one day! Su and Christophe

Our second visit to The Mews, and it was just as good as our first. The Mews is well appointed and provides spectacular views. A home from home. There can be little doubt they we will return!

The views are amazing. The cottages is well kept and the bed very comfy. It was very clean and had everything you needed. We travelled with our dog and were disappointed that we couldn’t use the local Lake Menteith Hotel. They were not dog friendly and it was not easy to walk to.

The place was in a beautiful location with a spectacular view - however there were no facilities like shops and pubs within walking distance -as for the accomodation the advertised use of spa and gym facilities is now no more so potential bookers should check as this is being advertised (although I told the owner so it may not be so now)-I'm afraid to say we got off to a bad start by being placed in the wrong cottage and had to swap over the morning after after the caretakers were ordered by the owner to "get them out"-we also had an an issue where for the whole week we were unable to access everyday terrestrial tv as the system was only hooked up to catch up and YouTube and the caretakers were unable to resolve this-we did not go to Scotland to watch tv however ,and our drives out and the beautiful scenery made up for this ,but it would have been nice to come back of an evening and relax a bit more-some of the crockery was chipped and the cottage itself seems overdue for a full service

We had a wonderful time at The Mews. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. The views were stunning, it was so relaxing and peaceful but with plenty to do within a short drive away. Ronnie and Laura were fabulous, welcoming hosts. Thanks for making it a great break!

Delightful welcome from such warm and friendly hosts. The Mews was found to be spotlessly clean with a cottage feel and everything in it thoughtfully provided for our comfort. Nothing was too much trouble to ensure we enjoyed our trip. We had fantastic views across the lake. So peaceful and awe inspiring! And the freshly baked scones kept coming from Ronnie, added bonus! Would most thoroughly recommend. We had a great time with many happy memories to take away.

We have just had the best week with hosts Ronnie and Laura. Both are an absolute delight and make you feel so welcome. We stayed in the Mews which was perfect for us as a couple. This place is in a great location for exploring the Trossachs and other great places only an hour or so away e.g. Edinburgh. If you are after R and R this is the place for you!

Fabulous cosy cottage, in a stunning location away from it all! The hosts have added lots of extra touches from the lovely thick dressing robes to the daily delivery of home baked scones! Would definately recommend this cottage.
