Commanding dramatic sea views, Limpet Cottage sits in a small terrace perched on the sea front in the peaceful coastal village of Boulmer. Pronounced Boomer, it is a pretty coastal village with very little traffic. Once the haunt of smugglers it is one of the true Northumbrian fishing villages which remains virtually untouched by time. Meander along the waters edge and watch the fishermen return with their daily catch of lobsters, crabs and salmon. The historic market town of Alnwick is just 6 miles away. Dominated by its dramatic fortress, it offers a wide range of amenities including a playhouse, indoor swimming pool and an excellent array of restaurants, shops, tea rooms and pubs. Take time to visit Barter Books, one of the largest secondhand bookshops in Britain, or discover the magnificent Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts.

Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, has a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden, and guests can dine in the restaurant in the largest tree house in Europe. Less than 3 miles walk along the beach is the picture postcard village of Alnmouth, where a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops for the discerning visitor can be enjoyed. Yacht and small boat moorings within the sheltered estuary are available for the sailing enthusiasts. For the golfers, there are two courses close by, one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach, and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton with panoramic views. Limpet Cottage is situated on a National Cycle Route, making this property particularly suitable for keen cyclists. This is a superb choice for couples seeking self-catering accommodation. It is conveniently all on one level and situated only a gentle stroll from the seashore of the beautiful Northumbrian coastline, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Amazing cottage, we loved everything about it. The views were beautiful all around the cottage and it was so peaceful. The cottage was well equipped and perfect for the 2 of us, we'll definitely be back. We had to force ourselves to go out every day, as we didn't want to miss the views and tranquility of where we were.

Beautiful location for peace and quiet with stunning sea views. The cottage was superbly well equipped and met our needs. A big thank you for providing the little extra's on arrival. The Northumberland coastline places and surrounding areas are a hidden gem and the cottage location, provided very little travelling time to reach all of these places. We have already booked for 2020, as this is the best cottage that we have every stayed in.

Lovely cottage , immaculate interior with stunning views . We had it all , weather wise, glorious sunshine and lashing rain but walked to both Alnmouth and Craster along beautiful coastal paths . What makes this cottage is the ever changing views from the lounge and patio . We sat for hours with no TV on simply watching the sea and large variety of bird life . There is a good pub about 100 yards away in which we ate a couple of times and we used the well stocked Coop store in Longhoughton about a 5 min drive away to get basics . Overall a lovely chilling break at a lovely cottage in a stunning location .

My only gripe and it really is my fault, I am over six foot tall and found it difficult to sleep in a bed with a foot board.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped and very comfortable with lovely touches like chocolates and Prosecco and milk. Local amenities - there is a pub but also a beach and a small art gallery and Alnmouth is a short drive away. Please do not book this cottage - we want it for ourselves. It’s perfect for those who love peace and quiet and beauty and the sea on your doorstep.

Perfect cottage for a couple in a fantastic location. Interior is attractive and comfortable. Local pub is 50 yards away and offers good food and drink. The sea view from the lounge is stunning, we had no hesitation in booking Limpet for a second visit.

Directions to cottage from A1 need to be looked at especially the right turn at Longhoughton which is the 2nd right after entering the village NOT the 1st as you enter the village. Mention needs to be made of the 4 uneven steps from the parking space, there are then 2 steps a the door of the cottage.
