Not so much a cottage as a flat - but a well-thought-out design and a high standard of workmanship. Not too far from the town on foot and with a great forest walk on the doorstep. A surprisingly good bus service to interesting towns, abbey ruins and the coast. And in front of the big windows an ever-flowing stream, in full spate the week we were there but still hosting a dipper. A splendid quiet retreat.

Really lovely accommodation - a flat as part of a restored mill building, where you cross the mill race to get to your front door and have the most fantastic view of the river at the back. The garden is lovely and runs along the river.

Arrived 15minuets early and received a very ignorant shout from Gordon (the owner from the top of a ladder). Moved our car to the rear of the cottage and waited 15minuets until 4pm. As I exited the car the owners daughter Georgina came out of the main house. She at least offered a friendly welcome and showed us around the cottage, offering full use of the garden and grounds. As she talked with us Gordon came out of his workshop, Georgina turned and introduced us and immediately Gordon shunned us both and turned away. That set his attitude for the rest of our stay as he totally ignored us whenever we saw him in the garden. Even coating the small bridges with creosote making it unsafe to use the without ruining our clothes. This cottage was chosen for our 52 Anniversary which he managed to spoil by his arrogance.
