The Southern Upland Way passing close by presents the ideal focus from which to enjoy the many and varied shorter walks within the region. The dramatic scenery is home to a rich company of flora and fauna with many unusual species including pine martens golden eagle ospreys red deer red squirrels and the natterjack toad.\nThe area has many renowned gardens to visit including the Botanic Gardens in Port Logan. Wigtown Scotland’s official book town is home to a charming gallery and excellent cafés and is located only a few miles from Bladnoch Distillery where visitors can sample the local malt whisky. For fishermen the area offers a wide variety of opportunities including sea fishing from Portpatrick and both trout and salmon fishing close by. Other country pursuits are available including shooting and riding. Golfers will feel equally at home in this area with Stranraer Portpatrick and Lagganmore golf courses within a 20-minute drive while Turnberry with its world famous course is only 45 minutes away and also offers a spa off road driving quad biking activities and restaurant facilities. For the more active there are numerous cycle routes set out in stunning forestry commission surroundings and cycle hire is available at these centres. Sailing is available via the local marina and for those happy to travel slightly further afield there is the Galloway Sailing Centre where visitors can also try windsurfing canoeing and power boating. From Stranraer 6½ miles there is the ferry service to Ireland for a day trip. Beach 200 yards.     House is in excellent location to the village with stunning views out over the Irish Sea. Overall the property is very comfortable & spacious, it is exactly what is needed for a larger group to not feel like you’re living in each other’s pockets. Kitchen provides ample equipment to make meals for everyone at the same time..fridge and freezer space is limited but manageable if you forward plan, and being only 15 minutes from Stranraer it’s easy enough to make a trip to the supermarket. If planning to use the hot tub I would recommend taking towels for this as each guest is only provided with one towel for after washing. The next door neighbour Karen likes to introduce herself, so a wee wave on your arrival may be appreciated. Will definitely look to go here again.

    Great size house, beautiful scenery. Disappoint chipped cups, clothes left from a previous stay. Shower door broken, rubbish and cig butt left lying around hot tub. No bedding on some of the beds, 1 bed leg broken

    3 night stay for a 60th Birthday in this lovely house overlooking Portpatrick with views to die for. House was everything we hoped for & we had a fabulous time. Well equipped house and the added attraction of a hot tub which was well used even on a rainy Saturday in November. Thoroughly recommend. Easy to book & good communication with owner. Would love to return.

    Great holiday house for large group of people. Not a lot to do in the village but can make your own fun with hot tub and large social areas within the house. Kitchen not as well equipped as it could have been, e.g. we were looking for a large pot and there wasn’t one. That was the only negative though! Very clean house. Short walk to the village for pub and play park. Would go back and would recommend to others.

    Cottage was good and location Kitchen Electrics could be in need of replacing and lack of Sky tv was miss leading.

    2nd year we've stayed here. Lovely house, lovely village. Booked again for next year. Only issue was that we reported a problem with the toilet and nobody came out to fix it during our stay.
