It is just a short stroll from the property to all the local amenities including pubs restaurants and shops. The garden is set right on the riverbank and is perfect for spending endless hours watching the local wildlife including kingfishers and otters or just enjoying a glass of wine as the sun sets over the river. The wood burner in the living room and huge picture window means that even when it is raining you can still enjoy the outlook over the River Cree.\nNewton Stewart lies on the southern edge of the Galloway Forest Park which was Scotland’s first Dark Sky Park. If you go for a walk there in the day time you may meet red deer and wild goats that inhabit the area. The area is fantastic for walking with rolling glens forests and stunning coastline paths. For bikers there are two of the world famous 7stanes mountain bike trial centres close by at Glentrool and Kirroughtree. Scotland’s ’National Book Town’ Wigtown is only 7 miles away. This quaint town has a large number of book shops where you can spend hours searching for that perfect holiday read. Lovely cosy cottage in a great location overlooking the river Cree

Cottage was lovely and cosy. Everything you needed was there. Little disappointed that we had to clean out the fire before we could light it.

Great wee cottage.Great log burner and cosy couch. Lovely area great for dog walking and relaxing. Good small village close within walking distance for shops. Great dog friendly hotel at end of road for a few drinks. Only down side wall between river and seating area quite low our dog jumped it and got caught in the undergrowth trying to get back up. Scared all of us as it was thick jagged bushes and dark also.

Lovely cosy holiday cottage, with a gorgeous view enjoyed watching the ducks on the river. The only thing i would suggest is that they invest in a hairdryer as i have never been to any self catering accommodation that didn't have one, and unfortunately due to this we weren't able to eat out as my hair really can't be left to dry naturally. Luckily i took my hat with me so was fine on our walks during the day. We were only there for a few days so it wasn't justifiable to purchase one. However we can recommend Dynasty Chinese and Meena's Indian for take away.

Cottage needs some maintenance and money spent. But great location.

lovely restful setting. Ideal base for touring fishing etc. appreciated change of linen and towels mid fortnight.

Nice location but cottage needs some attention. Broken tiles on the front door step and walking into a cottage with a distinct smell of dog pee. The front patio has paint peeling off in large sections from the slabs. Maybe w just went at the end of season but I was disappointed for the cost considering other places I’ve stayed like Bude and Dartmoor where the accommodation has been much cleaner and well presented on arrival. Watch out for the anglers who will stand on the bank at the front of the property to fish. Nothing wrong with it of course but it feels a little intrusive. Cracking location and the other residents in the terrace are very friendly and helpful with advice on where to go and where to eat. Won’t be going back however as I’d prefer somewhere with a little more space next time.

Beautiful cottage. Great location overlooking the Cree.

Minnow Cottage is in a beautiful location next to the river and a short stroll into Newton Stewart. It is a well renovated cottage full of character but with a modern bathroom and kitchen. Parts of it now need attention though. External doors can be awkward to lock and the handles of internal doors can be difficult to turn particularly the one on the door from the inner hallway and sitting room. The oven is dirty and the outside patio by the river is weedy and has peeling paint on the tiles. A little tlc would make such a difference. Car access from the main road is tight. We found Minnigaf a great location from which to explore the surrounding area, there are lots of local walks and good roads to explore further afield. We enjoyed Portpatrick, Isle of Whithorn and Threave Gardens particularly. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome wherever we went.

    Excellent-great location.

This cottage is in a beautiful location on the bank of the river with the terrace overlooking the water. Very peaceful. Lots of places to visit in this quiet part of Scotland. We really enjoyed our week but felt that a little TLC was needed to keep it in tip top condition eg the paint on the paving stones on the terrace was peeling badly and made it look shabby. Also both the front and back door locks were difficult to manage. A little more attention to cleaning, old biscuit papers under the bed. However we would still recommend this pretty little home if you like a tranquil setting for a quiet holiday.

Excellent holiday, lovely cottage, small only suitable for two. On river bank , lovely view,s of river and wild life. Very close to town . With every amenities I.e. Lovely butcher,s, food stores, bakery, pubs and restaurants. Good dog walks. The cottage is very quiet at night. Very good log burner, small kitchen but has everything you want. Excellent fridge, freezer. Very good wi-fi and tv. Comfy bed. All looking out on to river. Only downside there good have been a vacuum cleaner to pick up bits before we left. Rugs in need of cleaning. Bathroom Mat set was pretty poor and could do with changing. We washed it. Front and back door lockes in need of maintenance. I.e hard to lock. All in all lovely restful stay. Ps patio in need of painting.
