We enjoyed our holiday at Newbiggin Cottage in a very lovely location. However we found the bathroom had a bad drain smell, the fridge needed defrosting, and the settees although looking lovely were very uncomfortable. On the whole the cottage was ok and the back garden was a lovely little place to sit in.

Ease of access to Swaledale, Wensleydale, Teesdale, Waldendale, Wharfedale and even the lakes and walking distance of all of Richmond, and dog-friendly. What's not to like? Parking, really, is the only bugbear but, with the generosity of the owner leaving £15 in coins, a weekly permit was purchased and if we were in the cottage during the day, we left the car in the long-stay carpark just though a ginnell round the corner. Between 6pm and 8pm it's fine parked outside but at other times it's limited to 2 hrs - hence the need for the long-stay. But who else would leave fifteen nicker to fork out for a permit?! And then there was the special delivery of the custom cake.....delish! All in all, I would return here in a flash. In all seriousness, if you are contemplating a cottage in Richmond, enquire about this one; you will not be disappointed.

The cottage had been prepared very thoughtfully and was clean, comfortable and well appointed. It is extremely well situated and has a first rate library (not just the usual selection of airport novels). We were impressed that a cake was left in the fridge to welcome us and that change was provided so that we were able to buy a weekly parking ticket.

If you want somewhere close to the centre of Richmond, and in a fairly quiet area, then this ticks a lot of boxes. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in this small but comfortable cottage. As a bonus, we were treated to a lovely home-baked cake on arrival, which the owner had thoughtfully left, along with some milk. The cottage is well equipped and my only observation would be that the small corner shower might be a slight squeeze for some but there is always a bath to compensate. It is only a very short walk to the Market Sq so there is no need to use the car and even my elderly father managed to traipse to the shops! Though we had access to a disabled badge, parking was never an issue and only got busy when Sunday Services were on at the Church next door. Richmond is at the head of Swaledale, which has stunning scenery, so I thoroughly recommend a visit if you haven't been to this part of Yorkshire. There is something for everybody.

i stayed here with my mum so we wanted a cottage near to amenities and with separate shower. cottage was clean and very well equipped, homemade cake nice welcoming touch and tea/coffee, sugar, milk provided plus bin bags, clean washing up cloths, cool packs in freezer etc and everything worked fine so all seemed well provided. Beds very comfy, quiet street. patio back enclosed garden was very private and a lovely relaxing sun trap. very enjoyable stay. There was plenty of space had there been 4 of us staying. Only negative was shower is cubicle corner one so not very big, harder for my mum to use, but rainfall powerful shower head and there is a full sized bath with jacuzzi. We would both recommend Richmond as a base and certainly stay at the cottage again. able to park outside for 2 hr with disc provided, had some time parked free around corner and some at nearby car park ( with money provided for parking) so it was easy enough throughout our stay. Church next door seemed quiet during our stay and only noticed bells being rung at 9am and 6pm.

Just returned home from this Gem of a cottage. Situated in the heart of the historic town of Richmond, Yet on a lovely quiet cobbled street. As other guests have said the photo's don't do the property justice. Very comfortable and fully equipped. The owner had kindly left money for parking, and a lovely home made cake, which was much appreciated. I must say I enjoyed the Jacuzzi bath, and the beds were so comfortable. Some wonderful places to visit. Thank you. Would recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week over Christmas. Beds were comfortable and the whole house was spotless. The kitchen was well equipped and the small outside area would be lovely in better weather. Richmond is lovely and locals are welcoming. Thanks for a great stay.

Absolutely lovely venue, Richmond, and cottage. Charming, comfy and so well placed. The only reason for the 9 overall rating was the shower cubicle could be a bit tight for larger people.
