Newton Manor House dates back to the early 1600s with walls and roof built from local Purbeck stone. The house retains a lot of its original charm with ornate oak panelling and wood carvings. The principal rooms overlook the serene landscaped gardens while the first and second floor rooms offer far-reaching views across the small seaside town of Swanage to the sea and coast beyond. The town of Swanage nestles peacefully amidst the beautiful Isle of Purbeck countryside and is set between the Heads of Durlston and Studland sloping gently down to the water’s edge. This small pleasant resort has an array of restaurants interesting shops and a small theatre not to mention spectacular floral displays in the parks and gardens. In season pleasure cruisers leave the pier daily bound for Poole Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. The Lifeboat Centre at Pervil Point is open to the public and fascinating to visit whilst Durlston Country Park provides magnificent cliff walks and views of Anvil Point Lighthouse. A trip aboard Swanage’s restored steam railway also makes for a fun day out winding its way through pretty scenery to the ruins of Corfe Castle. Magnificent coastal walks extend north from the town to the National Trust sandy beaches at Studland while the South West Coastal Path leads to Kimmeridge Tyneham and West Lulworth in the west much of which is National Trust land and rich in local flora and fauna. The larger seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth are just a ferry ride away boasting a huge range of shops theatres museums cinemas and restaurants. The entire coast is excellent for trying out all manner of watersports - windsurfing water-skiing yachting and surfing to name just a few. Fishing and tennis are available a mile away in Swanage and a local golf course can be found nearby. Shop ¼ mile. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/811/840/811694.jpg DMM

We had a great week celebrating my middle sister's 60th birthday. The house might look grand on the outside but it is so comfortable and designed to be used. I love the practical details (two dishwashers, 3 fridges, lots of bath/shower rooms). The location was relatively easy for the majority of the family to get to. Young and old felt at home.

A lovely house with loads of orignal features and very tastefully furnished. Its about a mile to the beach and town center with loads of resteraunts and pubs. There is a nice garden if you don't want to go to the beach, though it is getting a bit overrun. The bus stop is just outside with buses to Wareham, Lulworth Cove and Poole. Its not cheap but is very nice.

The house was historically very interesting and quirky. Lots of lovely hot water so good for such a large family as ours. Good location near beaches. As a large family we had lots of food waste but there were no facilities to compost or dispose of it other than land fill and as an eco family we would have liked to be able to recycle food waste. This house is a good place for a large family to stay with en suites in almost every bedroom.

We were group of 14 ranging from16to70+, great time had by all. Rooms great sizes to accommodate us. Few maintenance things could be done but that didn’t spoil stay, could mention hairdryers in reviews to save guests taking theres. Welcome pack was appreciated.

Beautiful house. Wonderful time had by all but it needs a bit of maintenance. I'd have scored much higher if it wasn't for these things which need attention: Sockets hanging off walls Shower blocked, which now isn't as my brother has done that for them! A number of lightbulbs need replacing A large number of matresses need replacing with better quality ones.

Had an amazing holiday at Newton Manor. The house was so spacious and every room was lovely. It was great to have so many bathrooms, and everything was spotlessly clean. The house had everything we needed, I was amazed that the internet worked everywhere including the very top tower room. This truly is a special house and we cannot wait to go back.

Fantastic house with great bedrooms and an amazing dining room. Swanage is interesting and the train to Corfe Castle is a must. Walking along the coast path towards dancing ledge was sooo spectacular that we will definitely be back. Also walking from Swanage to Harry’s rock is well worth it as well.

We were a group of 8 girl friends having a weekend away together. We all had a wonderful time in this part of Dorset with so much to do and see locally. Newton Manor fitted the bill exactly. An atomospheric and comfortable house, ideally located within walking distance of Swanage. We hope to visit again sometime.

We booked the house for a 60th birthday celebration, and the ten of us had an absolutely wonderful time. All the rooms are well decorated, and each bedroom has it's own style, plus as most of them are en-suite there were no arguments as to who had what room. The kitchen is very well laid out and had plenty of crockery, cutlery, mugs and glassware to go around. The pool table in the games room saw plenty of use, and with both a "snug" and a large living room there was plenty of space. The open fire in the living room was a great feature for a cold January night, and the marvellous dining room made our celebratory dinner a very special occasion. Although we came prepared with food and drink, the two local shops were in easy walking distance for the items we had forgotten. All-in-all we had a great time and would happily return for a future break.

13 of us had an incredible Christgirah weekend at Newton Manor. The host was easy to communicate with prior to our arrival and the house was decorated perfectly for Christmas. The lounge was perfect for our Games Nights and the dining room was ideal for our Royal Dinner. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Also baby friendly. The open fire was great. The coast is only a 10 minute walk away (through the picturesque village). Our deposit was returned in full without any issues.

A lovely house full of character, could do with some more pint glasses and dinner plates. Just a note our holiday was on the 30th November 2018 not the 8th January. We asked for Christmas decorations to be put up and they were , lots of them

Wow! What a fabulous house! We stayed for a week in November 2018. My partner and I love cooking and when we rent a place there must be a fantastic kitchen. Newton Manor House's kitchen is large and has all the equipment; knives, juicer, pots, pans, double oven, 5 burner stove, dishes, 2 dishwashers, that are needed. Good Job! Next is the dining area. The dining room at Newton Manor House is truly spectacular. Perfect for the many dinners that we had. The lounge area is big, well appointed with a great real fire. Perfect for talking about life, the universe and everything, with our friends and family. The bedrooms and bathrooms were full of character and all with ensuites that made them great to stay in. There is ample parking, and the Manor House is only 10 minute walk from town. It was perfect for getting together with a large group of our friends and family. The Manor House is highly recommended. Plus, of course, it is full of character and history! Well Done! Neil and Nikki
