    Situated just 3 miles from Stranraer in a beautiful position on the Rhins of Galloway peninsula, Quarter Acre House makes a great base for a family holiday.

    Situated on the north west coast of the beautiful Rhins of Galloway peninsula, 3 miles from Stranraer, this stunning detached property, with a private hot tub, enjoys panoramic views over the rolling countryside and across Lochryan Bay. Ferries pass daily on the 90-minute crossing from Stranraer’s ferry port. Visit Dally Bay where seals and porpoises can be spotted. Walk down to the sea to the shore on Loch Ryan and around Wig Bay and The Scar – a circular walk along Loch Ryan shoreline and back into the village of Kirkcolm. The Scar, a sandbank which juts out into Loch Ryan, is home to one of the largest colonies of nesting migrant terns in the region. From a historical perspective, during the Second World War, Wig Bay was used as a base for the flying Catalina boats – evidence can be seen of this on a walk along the bay. The Galloway coastline offers an abundance of sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. Walking, golf, sea and freshwater fishing, pony trekking, watersports and cycling are all available nearby. There are several beautiful gardens including Logan Botanical which benefits from the mild climate of the Gulf Stream. Beach ½ mile. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

    What an amazing cottage with beautiful views. This cottage met every expectations described and more and a credit to Robert and his wife. The welcome basket was much appreciated with no expense spared and the homemade scones were yummy. The garden was fully secured so very dog friendly and so many lovely bays to visit within a 20 to 30 minute drive away and had the bays mostly to ourselves. It was also lovely at night in the hot tub overlooking the view when the bay was lit up, amazing. No wonder this place is already fully booked for most of next year. Definitely a 5 star plus rating.

    The property was of an excellent standard and we appreciated the greeting and welcome pack from the owner. Excellent views, peaceful location and enclosed / secure garden for the dog to run freely whilst we relaxed in the hot tub. Lots of places to visit within easy reach.

    Wow!!! We have just returned from this amazing holiday cottage, couldn’t pick a fault with anything. It was immaculately presented with lovely gifts on arrival. Garden is superb for all especially for dogs and the hot tub was an added bonus, the beds are all so comfortable, only problem was we had to come home. This is the best cottage we have ever stayed in and we’ve stayed in a lot. The owner was great and nearby if needed. Already booked for next year. Highly recommend.

    Absolutely gorgeous house, very well equipped. Owners live close by if needed but not intrusive in any way. We had an issue with internet not working and very impressed how quickly it was resolved. Hot tub and views are amazing, very chilled out holiday.

    The property is excellent. Very clean and well equipped. The garden is totally enclosed and perfect for dogs. Great shopping in Stranraer 10 mins by car. Beach 5mins by car. The only DVD player is in the twin bedded room and internet is very slow. We had a lovely holiday. The owner was most helpful and accommodating .

    The cottage was brilliant clean and spacious every thing you could wish for. The hot tub was great. The weather we could not have had a better week. Could have done with another one all in all fantastic.

    Brilliant place. This is probably one of the best we have stayed in with the dog. The garden is fantastic for pets. The views are great, everything we needed was local,butchers bakery etc. Some nice walks around the area. Owner was great. Left us a lovely welcome pack and delicious scones. Hot tub was there, but didn’t feel the need for it, as we had lovely weather. Would definitely be coming again some time soon.

    We had a great time at the cottage. The cottage was very well equipped and very comfortable, it is very spacious. Although a couple of thing could do with replacing e.g frying pan it is worn and food sticks, but this is just a minor thing. The bed room has lots of storage, and the main bath room is very roomey. One of our party is disabled and they got around with no problems at all there is a ramp up to the back door. The main issue would have to be the mobile signal and the WiFi if you have members of your party that need this service it is very very poor even loading a simple web page takes an age. This may seem a trivial thing but due to the internet connection it was an issue, all the leaflet for activities and places to eat were very out of date, some we found were no longer open and prices and opening times were different. Due to the mobile signal and internet trying to get the up to date information was difficult, so I recommend you do research before you go. The hot tub and out door space were great. The view over the lock was beautiful it was very quite and peaceful. The welcome pack was a very nice touch. Overall we were certainly recommend the cottage.

    Super welcome pack. Lovely views. Lots to do locally if you like a good wander with the pooch then come back and chill out under the stars in the hot tub. Recommend port Patrick.
