There is a double bedroom on the first floor enjoying distant views towards the sea to the east and open countryside to the west. The contemporary bathroom is spacious and bright.

    Railway Cottage is an excellent place to stay with home from home comforts. Lovely friendly hosts with great knowledge of the local area. Lovely beaches and places to visit within just a short drive, also a great base to visit anywhere along the dog friendly Northumberland coast.

    We had a really enjoyable and relaxing time at Railway Cottage. The owners are very friendly and helpful but not in any way intrusive. The location is quiet and the dogs in the near by kennels were not an issue at any time. There is plenty of space in the cottage for two people and a dog and it has all the amenities one could want when on holiday.

    Great base for visiting the many beaches and coastal paths all within short driving distance. Cottage clean and comfortable and hosts very helpful with suggestions. Cragside and Wallington well worth a visit.

    We knew the cottage had boarding kennels, and although previous reviews said the dogs could not be heard, we could certainly hear them! Not too bad, though. Alison , the owner, did say they were the noisiest dogs she had ever had! A couple of the oven meat tins could do with replacing, and the oven hood didn't work. A good holiday though.

    Lovely location for visiting the area. Hosts couldn't have been more helpful. Coast is beautiful, wonderful beach 1.5 miles from cottage. National trust Cragside is great. Several good local pubs, within a few miles.

    I would recommend this cottage as it was comfy and clean. There was everything you could need in the cottage and the owners who live next door were very helpful. There is parking right next to the property which makes it easy for loading and unloading the suitcases. It is in a good location with countryside views all around. It is also handy for visiting many of Northumberland's attractions. I would definitely go back again.

    Fantastic! We booked initially for 7 nights and loved it so much we stayed for 10. The cottage was easy to find and in an excellent location for exploring further a field. The beautiful beach & nature reserve are a 5 min drive or a 2 mile walk off road. There was plenty of parking on site and a lovely enclosed garden for children or dogs. We booked last minute with just 2 days notice and on arrival the cottage was spotless, warm, cosy & inviting. It's very nicely decorated and has everything we wanted. Alison & Ivan are fantastic hosts. Friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The kennels to the side are really convenient if like us you have a dog. Although we didn't use the boarding this time it's really handy if you're visiting somewhere that's not pet friendly as they offer day boarding and the kennels are warm and cosy too. There was no noise from the dogs being borded either. We explored south to Newcastle and north to Seahouses and found plenty of beautiful little coastal villages and beaches as well as more commercial places like Whitley Bay. This cottage is great for an active couple or family and we will be returning as soon as we can.
