The location of the cottage is idyllic right on the waters edge, perfect for boat, people and wildlife watching. However, although comfortable inside, the cottage itself needs some urgent TLC. The curtains are porous, almost see through and don’t meet in the middle. As a result, daylight streams through into the bedroom from the very early hours, involving very early wake up indeed. The TV has a mind of its own, coming on by itself at all times of the day and night, there is a DVD player, but no DVD’s. The outside decking is a nice place to sit and relax, but it is held up by black gaffer tape and green mould which makes it unsightly. The provision of a BBQ would improve the experience. Finally using the toaster ‘blows’ the electricity.

The size and location were good, cleanliness not so good. Decking seemed to be held together with duck tape ,

What a wonderful week we had at Ripples. A cosy little cottage in a beautiful location, right on the waterside with boat hire available a short, 30 second walk away. Factilities at Ripples were excellent with a well equipped kitchen, lounge, and comfortable beds. The decked area outside is conducive to relaxing by the water until late, and fishing is easy from the wooden quay, although I think it was a little early in the season for Pike, with only one caught, there were plenty of signs of Tench activity right in front of you. If fishing isn't your thing there is plenty of birdlife passing, and apparently Otters, although we didn't see one this visit. I was lucky enough to see two Kingfishers flying past though. It is hard to find any fault with Ripples. I noticed the bathroom extractor fan wasn't working, and the one in the kitchen switched itself on at 2am one morning, as did the TV. These are only minor niggles though, and certainly didn't detract from what was a wonderful stay. We certainly look forward to returning sometime!
