If you fancy being on two wheels instead, four of the 7Stanes mountain biking centres are within easy reach and offer world class trails. For a more sedate walk, why not work your way around one of the several golf courses within a 30-minute drive. The area has a fascinating history which you can explore in the many varied castles and museums including the amusingly named Devils Porridge Museum. Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery is just 15-minute drive away and you can visit all year round.
