A lovely stay in a delightfully quiet village.Cold and windy outside but cosy and warm inside the extremely comfortable cottage. We couldn't have asked for any more.Marion is very welcoming and provided us with lovely cake and fresh eggs.We will return.

I only gave a 5 due to the cottage being in an outstanding location but the village has no amenities. Our winter break was enhanced with snow but the village is not easy to reach in bad weather, the only safe route in is via Castleton which the owner pointed out to us when we contacted her to arrange key collection. This shouldn't detract from anyone booking the cottage as it is extremely cosy and the views of the moors are magnificent and sitting and relaxing in the garden room watching the many visiting birds is an added bonus.

Amazing old but with a modern twist - well away from hustle (plan your food), total getaway place. Hosts are just the best with welcome pack - Chocolat Cake Looking forward to going back

Fantastic holiday cottage. Warm, comfortable, modern and welcoming. We will definitely book the cottage again

Lovely cottage in a wonderfully peaceful situation. The owners live next door so are there to answer any questions. Eggs, milk and a delicious chocolate cake were there on arrival. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we could possibly want.

A comfortable cottage with stunning views.

Overall very relaxing holiday and the host Marian was welcoming and friendly. Scenery was brilliant and whilst we were there the weather very good (considering!). Places to visit not too far away and easy to get to.

Amazing! We were 2 couples and the cottage suited our needs totally. Extremely well equipped with everything you need. If you think they haven’t got it you’ve probably missed a drawer or cupboard. This is really set up as if it’s the owners own home. Some lovely extras you don’t normally find e.g. Netflix etc., A start up of tea, coffee, sugar, eggs, milk and a cake was very much appreciated. Set in a quiet village with a beautiful view from the back garden; we enjoyed being able to sit in the garden on some hot nights. Marion and Garry live next door so are on hand if you need anything or have a problem but otherwise leave you to yourselves. Would love to go back.

A lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable cottage in a very peaceful location. Extremely well equipped and refurbished to a high standard. Within easy reach of good pubs and local shops as there is nothing in Westerdale itself. Marian, the owner, was very welcoming and on hand if we had had a problem (lovely chocolate cake and eggs from her own hens). We enjoyed being able to walk part of the Esk Valley trail from the cottage and be within easy reach of the coast to walk from Ravenscar to Robin Hood's Bay. We had mixed weather including one very wet day when we didn't venture out but it was nice just to relax with a book/newspapers in the comfort of the lounge. We will miss the view of the moors whilst washing up! Hopefully we will return in the near future.

Well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage, with tidy garden enjoying view of the moors. Lovely surroundings, but nearest pub/shops are a couple of miles away if that's an issue (it wasn't for us). There's no mobile phone signal in the village but Wi-fi in the cottage is good. There is one dedicated parking spot, but further cars can be parked in the road in front of the cottage (though avoid parking on white line since this indicates a turning zone for tractors turning in/out of lane at side). Owners are friendly and helpful.

Immaculately presented comfortable and homely cottage with everything you could need. Garden is beautiful and the sun room is perfect for reading a book and watching the birds. The owners live next door and could not be friendlier or more helpful. We are already planning our next visit.
