A pretty two bedroomed semi-detached property in the peaceful village of Staintondale, Rudda Farm Cottage (UK2492) is perfect for a romantic holiday or a small family break. This delightful cottage oozes charm and character with a modern galley style kitchen. Tastefully furnished, the comfortable living area has a warming multi-fuel burner and a small dining area. There is an enclosed garden at the front and small patio at the rear creating a lovely area to sit and relax in the sun and to take in the glorious panoramic views.
The farm cottages are nested half way between Whitby and Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast. There are wonderful walks and cycling straight from the door and out into the National Park and there is bike storage available on site. Enjoy the many delights of the area including hidden coves and beaches, exhilarating cliff top walks and coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, and Ravenscar where you can walk down to the foot of the cliffs to view the seal colony. Wonderful Whitby is further north with its busy cobbled streets and independent shops offering everything from Gothic clothing to jet stone jewellery. There is an abundance of traditional pubs with live music that accept pets, coffee shops and tea rooms, and an increasingly popular food scene with gastro pubs and bistros complementing award winning fish and chip shops. There are plenty of dog friendly beach areas to explore where you can enjoy rock pooling and fossil hunting. Keep an eye on the events calander as there is always something happening in Whitby from the famous Goth weekends, a regatta, music festivals and a folk week being highlights of a year round calendar. Just south of Staintondale you will find the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough with its busy amusement arcades, a waterpark and sandy beaches. The open air theatre hosts live international acts throughout the summer, and no trip to Scarborough is complete without a stroll around Peasholm Park and the world-famous Peasholm Park Naval Warfare which takes place throughout the summer.
With the North York Moors National Park right on your doorstep there are many walks and cycle routes to explore, or just enjoy a drive through some of the most stunning scenery. There is so much to see nearby but you may fancy a trip further afield to the walled city of York, an hour away, with its ancient minster and historic buildings. For a family day out visit Flamingo Land Theme Park or perhaps a scenic drive over to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Rudda Farm Cottage can be booked together with Rudda Farm House (UK2491) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

We really enjoyed our second stay here, it really does have everything you need. We love the location as you’re exactly half way between Scarborough and Whitby, which gives you plenty of choice over things to do. The only thing I would say is that my son was uncomfortable on the bed as he could really feel the springs through the mattress. Either a new mattress or a really thick topper would make this accommodation a 10/10.

Lovely cottage everything you could need would definitely go again. Just a bit far away from a local pub, so you would need a car but we knew that anyway

Lovely cottage in a great location. About 20 minutes drive to Whitby and Scarborough with fantastic views of the sea across the country fields. Main bedroom with ensuite bathroom is huge with 2 good sized built in wardrobes and plenty of drawer space. Living room carpet has seen better days with quite a few stains but it was clean and the room in general very comfortable. Wifi was great to have but I was pleasantly surprised to have a 4g connection on my mobile too. Kitchen had everything you need including a dishwasher. Plenty of crockery and utensils, normally find the bare minimum but there was no shortage. Fantastic games area under cover in the courtyard with table football, pool table and table tennis. There is also a store room with deckchairs and a BBQ. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit more than one place along the east coast as everything is in a short driving distance.

A lovely rural location with distant sea views. The cottage is well supplied although not as clean as we would have liked (pet hair in the spare room and glass found on the kitchen floor). However after a quick spruce all was in order. Plenty of space in the bedrooms and the outdoor games area as a real asset. Great service from the caretaker who kindly posted some valuable items we accidentally left.

We had a wonderful stay at Rudda Farm Cottage, particularly because of the games room and den area for the children above their bedroom. We played lots of table tennis and pool, and although the air hockey table wasn't working when we visited, we didn't miss it. The cottage is fully equipped right up to all the things that you would need for a Sunday roast! Sainsbury's delivers to the cottage if you haven't brought everything that you need food-wise, and if you prefer to drive, there one about 20 minutes away just outside Whitby and it looks as though there will be an Aldi opening up right next to it too. There is also Scarborough in the other direction so the cottage is very well positioned from that point of view. It was very clean and spacious, well decorated and there is plenty of space for parking. It is extremely quiet and you are only a few minutes away from some beautiful views. We would say that it was great for families but that the children's beds require a mattress topper / new mattress, hence why we only gave it a 8 for comfort. This review was left in April 2019 so it is worth checking if this has been done.

Mirror in main bedroom is very much needed. Couple more pics in bedroom and living room and ornaments in alcoves would greatly improve homeliness. Wires to tv need tidying and lights in bedroom need rethinking. The one not over bed is much too low. Hoover was useless. Small adjustments would make all difference and elevate it to 10/10 in all categories

Nice two bed / two bath cottage. Good access and parking. Well appointed. Adjacent to a farm so quite "out in the wilds" with little in the way of settlements nearby. Our dog was safe in the garden once we had blocked a small gap in the rear gate with one of the solid wooden stools in the outdoor dining set. Good heating (we were there in February) though could get a bit stuffy so the windows also needed some opening.

An excellent location for exploring although only gripe would be no local walks for dog when snowed in. Had to walk along grass verge to take dorg for walk otherwise excellent location. Didn’t get to explore games as far too cold ? Very clean and even came and saltes paths when snow came down

A lovely cottage with everything you need for a comfortable break. The only issue we had was the very noisy boiler starting at strange times during the night and keeping us awake. Other than that, a great stay.

Lovely cottage set in a quiet location yet close proximity to Whitby, Scarborough. Games area was great for my 2 boys. Cosy cottage and I would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in the area.
