Ryecroft is nicely decorated and extremely well located for enjoying Windermere and the surrounding area. Transport links to the buses and trains are also very convenient for the property. The property lacks input from a caring owner - the recycling bins/tubs were in a disgusting mess (left sorted!) and the garden is getting over-grown. The recycling of bottles and cans relies entirely on there being a council blue bag - there isn't one provided. Personal papers dating from the original survey and mortgage application should be removed from the users' handbook. The 2008 TV licence and 2012 electrical safety certificates did not inspire confidence ("wiring" of immersion quite alarming). Some key instructions, principally for the new Raeburn stove applied to previous model. The stove failed shortly after arrival, meaning three days without heating before the engineer's visit. Engineer described Raeburn stove as over-sized and liable to overheat and cut out easily (incorrect instructions on how to reset in obsolete manuals). A lot of old equipment in the kitchen needs sorting and replacement. Too much duplication (three folders of guidance/instructions for users!) and too much "stuff" around generally, making regular cleaning between lets very challenging. There was no guidance on where to park our car.

The cottage was great. In the centre of Windemere with two good sized bedrooms, a living room and a good kitchen.

Pros: Lovely cottage, great location. Cons: Needs more thorough clean - had to do some of it ourselves. Designated parking place unclear - very, very tight parking outside property.

Booked Ryecroft as a last minute 4 night get away. We usually stay more remote but actually we liked being in Windermere town. Very handy for shops and supplies and eating out. We had an issue with the boiler tripping out and I could not locate the reset button as the instructions said it was in the Top Left section of the Rayburn on the control panel when in fact it was located in the bottom left part behind another door. However this was not a problem as the cottage maintenance guy came out quickly and we had hot water and heat again within an hour of my calling the office. All in all we found Ryecroft cottage very homely, cosy, nicely decorated and convenient and we would love to stay again. A couple of minor points... The kitchen needs new frying pans, parking access was a bit tight getting up the lane past other cars and vans parked at the lane entrance, but we did manage it okay without any scrapes to the car. So no big deal but thought it was worth a mention. Very Happy Customers!

A lovely cottage in an ideal location. The Rayburn stove was a bit different from using a conventional oven, but we soon got the hang of it, and it did mean that the cottage was lovely and warm. Windermere has a good range of shops, as well as restaurants. Highly recommended!

A quaint, comfortable cottage just far enough from the tourist area to be private. Lots of local restaurants. A great regular bus service right through the lakes, leave your car at the cottage and enjoy the views.
