Sanna is a delightful detached cottage located in the hamlet of Ardentinny on the banks of Loch Long and the Firth of Clyde, near Dunoon.  This stone built self catering cottage was formally the old village hall dating back to the late 1800’s. Now tastefully renovated into comfortable holiday accommodation for a couple, the cottage has wooden floors throughout, a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a spacious open plan living space with kitchen, dining and seating area. There is also a single chair in the lounge area which converts into a single bed to provide additional sleeping space. The cottage also has its own enclosed gravel garden area and off street parking. Ardentinny is situated within Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and next to Argyll Forest which offers numerous forest tracks, marked walks and cycleways within this area, all easily accessible and right on your doorstep. The cottage has the additional benefit that it is only a short walk (200 yards) to gain access to the seafront where you can walk, fish, launch a canoe or just rest on the rocks, relax and enjoy the view. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Good location for a quiet break. Although no local shop available, the cottage is located opposite a lovely bistro which serves great food (the only place for a few miles). We visited 3 times in our week at Sanna and each different selection off the menu we tried was excellent. Good location also for dog walking - various routes displayed on signage about 100 yards down the road from the Bistro on the shore edge of Loch Long. Beautiful scenery all around. The town of Dunoon only a few miles away accessible by a great picturesque drive along the edge of Holy Loch. Would highly recommend visits to Pucks Glen for walks/dog walking; Benmore Botanical Gardens with its giant Redwoods, gardens, and cafe shop; and also, a must visit, the Coylet Inn at the side of the fantastic Loch Eck for some fabulous food and drink!

Ideal cottage for dog owners, would have liked outside table & chairs, bbq and sofa for the internal sitting area. However, these are just small details that would have helped make a very enjoyable week at Sanna even better.

Excellent cottage with lots of walks nearby. Quad biking really good. Cottage clean with all the facilities you need. Very friendly owners with lots of special touches: short bread biscuits, jar of milk, tv guide, blanket and biscuits for dogs. Would definitely go back.

Getting there: Having booked the cottage (and paid for same) I was surprised to see a ‘one liner’ pop up on on the screen which mentioned the possible need to book ferry tickets. I went back into both the description on the site and re-read through the Revues left by other customers and to my amazement nobody had mentioned anywhere anything about boarding a ferry. I made a few enquiries and came up with the following info’ There are at least two routes to get to Ardentinny, ( probably more depending from which direction in the UK you are travelling from we travelled from Kent) One option is to drive around the country including Loch Long taking in the amazing scenery which will take perhaps several hours or the next is to drive to Mcinroys Point, Gourock and take the ferry across to Hunters Quay. A trip of about 20 minutes. If you decide to opt for the ferry as we did you will need to buy tickets, they can be purchased on board but are apparently a tad more expensive than if purchased on-line. Now, Dear Reader these are ‘real’ tickets none of ‘your e-type tickets here’ and they are delivered via Royal Mail and someone will need to sign for them as and when they arrive. Be sure to leave ample time before your departure date when ordering. The company that operates the ferry service is Western Ferries and can of course, be found on line. Humans and vehicles have to pay, Fifi or Fido travel free. For four trips, that’s two adults and a car the total cost was around £23. Crossings cannot be booked for specific times it is a roll up, roll on and roll off set up. As said I was bemused that nobody had mentioned this little gem in their Revues or descriptions . Arrival you will find that Senna is located opposite the Bistro ‘The Ardentinny’ and is on a blind bend. Private parking for Senna is available and is situated at the front of the house. But as mentioned it is on a blind bend and whilst traffic is light buses and other vehicles do use the road so be aware when driving off or reversing in. Senna: A delightful property which is well equipped and warm, it is very much in what I would call a minimalist style three casual seats made up of two recliners and a third that opens up into a bed. The living area is not cluttered so no tripping over assorted pieces of furniture etc as one moves around. The front garden is fenced so Fifi and or Fido can within reason be let out if required. The Area: Across the road as mentioned from Senna is the pub, make that a Bistro it serves drinks and has a reasonable menu. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. We ate there once when we arrived. Local Amenities: Nothing is close by, the ‘local shops’ are not really that local getting to them will require a road trip. The nearest Supermarkets are in Dunoon a journey of about 6 plus miles. There you will find both a Co-Op and a Morrisons, there is a petrol station or two en-route their fuel prices were perhaps 2 or 3 pence more per litre than around the Gourock area. A day out visiting may require some planning as road signs, we found, were scarce. A trip to say Glasgow can vary depending on which route taken from anything between 40 and 70 plus miles. It was also very noticeable the lack of assorted shops, one can drive for miles and even then there is no guarantee one will appear. I would suggest that one takes a selection of foods etc with you to get you through the first couple of days at least. The various pubs that we visited all were ‘Dog Friendly’. We were there in early/mid April the weather was dry but at times very cold especially with the wind coming off the Loch’s . Fifi, Fido ?…there are numerous walks for them mostly off road where they can run amongst assorted woodland and of course along the shoreline of Loch Lomond The area is in general a magnificent and delightful location to stay and visit. Mrs Primrose the owner a very nice lady and very helpful although we tried not to bother her, in reality there was little need as everything was there and ready for our stay. Enjoy…….

We stayed here with my husband, my 6month old baby and our German shephards dog. We loved the holiday the view from the cottage was amazing.. It is situated on a Loch so the dog did lots of swimming he loved it. The cottage was small just right for a small family like ours. It was comfortable and clean we could not fault it. The owners were really friendly they gave us directions for local dog walks. Overall the holiday was amazing and we would definitely book again

What a lovely little cottage this is and such friendly owners. Situated right by the Loch, it is ideally positioned for walking straight out of the front door. Dogs will love it, as ours did and he swam as much as he could. We saw Red Squirrels, a Seal and lots of different birds. Lovely touches on arrival such as shortbread treats for us and biscuits for the dog, even some dogs towels. The cottage is really cozy and warm and we would not have any doubts about recommending it for a fantastic holiday. An added bonus being The Ardentinny Bar & Bistro straight over the road. You would need to book for weekends
