This is a lovely period cottage in a good area (10 mins to the main road to Windermere and Ambleside) with a nice drive up to the cottage. It says no kids under 12 due to the staircases but we took our 6 month old baby (and said this when booking so they'd know) as they can't crawl yet, let alone get up a staircase alone. Cottage was cosy and warm using storage heaters. We had a week of rain so sadly didn't make use of the garden. It could be a little better equipped, e.g kitchen roll, hand soap for bathrooms (I would never think to bring my own soap on holiday and have never needed to before). I'm sure it was a one-off but several of our towels didn't seem to be quite clean, with marks and a sticky substance on one which was strange. We enjoyed our stay though and left any suggestions in the suggestions book.

Wonderful, quirky cottage. Location is great, only 3 miles from Windermere but far enough our for peace and quiet. We would love to return at some point in the future. Cant recommend it enough.

Spacious, comfortable, charming cottage with some quirks, e.g. low beams, spiral staircases, etc. Good kitchen and bathroom. Not much of a view from the property, but handily placed for either the Queen's Head or The Mortal Man, as long as you've booked in advanced of course as both are popular.

Fantastic cottage for walkers, cyclist and pub lovers in the lakes! We had a wonderful October break at the cosy cottage, with beautiful features but as said many times before beware of the Low beams (my head attests to this). Both pubs within walking distance boasting warm fires and welcomes! Equally excllent food and beer. We hope to return to a the fantastic cottage soon!
